It Makes Sense/Too Complicated/Concert

I. It Makes Sense
It sounds corny but you just
Get me
Without having to try too hard
I don’t have to pretend,
I don’t have to dumb myself down
I love the fact that you use
Words like ‘altruistic’ in regular conversation,
Send me six-paragraph text messages,
And you like to watch movie trailers
Even if you don’t want to watch the movie
Do you know how often I find another person
Who shares a weird hobby with me like that?

II. Too Complicated
I’m not the only one
I kind of suspected that
“I think we all are,” she said. “That guy’s too freaking cool.”
It’s not a competition, at least not one I can win
I know who you’re looking at anyway, and she’s the only one
Who isn’t “into you.”
So when you’re talking to her so sweetly and she is
Completely oblivious to the wonderful person she could have
Jealousy and guilt are eating at my stomach and I hate it
Because I gave you the wrong advice so many months ago
Trying to be a good friend
And it doesn’t make you any more inclined to want me.

III. Concert
One collective heartbeat
Sweaty bodies thrown to the railing
We sing the words, our voices
Becoming white noise against the speakers
Toss a drumstick, hold a hand
Revisit the videos for days afterwards
I just want to go back in time.

So enjoyable! It Makes Sense is great...I love the bit about altruistic being used in a sentence. :-)

And that first line of Concert is perfect!

These are really good, and I can tell very personal. I enjoyed Too Complicated a lot! I had difficulty in the beginning trying to understand it, but when I caught on it was very realistic, well written and relatable! Loved it!
