Heathy - The Way I See It

Submitted by Heidi on Mon, 07/07/2014 - 00:41

People are always so confused about 'being healthy', 'losing weight' and 'being fit'. But the way I see it, it's really not that hard. Not to say that it's not hardER for some people. Some people do have a more active metabolism. But for the most part, it's about what you CHOOSE to do.

There are all sorts of books out there about 'healthy meals for losing weight,' 'Seven day detox', etc. But really, if you use common logic, it's not that hard to eat 'good for you' food.
For example; ask yourself "am I eating more grown (food from the earth), or processed (food made in a factory)?" You can munch an celery sticks all day long and you still wouldn't gain as much weight as if you ate one candy bar.
There is some debate about 'good for you food' that was made in a factory. And I do believe that there is some 'good food' out there that factories make. But as a general rule, green is the way to go.

Another thing to think about is water. There are all sorts of flow (pun intended) charts out there talking about how much water you should drink. I do think it's a good idea to have a minimum that you drink every day. But if you are still thirst, don't grab a soda. Grab some more water! Added plus about water, no calories!
Another thing is juice. Even if it's 'organic', the bottom line is, there are still plenty of calories in juice. I'm not saying you should give up juice all together, organic apple juice is great! But use it as a treat.

Exercise. Let's be honest, no body really likes to work out. Everyone wasn't to 'be fit', but the actual process of 'getting fit' is not so fun. But does it need to be painful? Of corse not! You don't need to do much, you just need to do something!
Walking is a great way to get moving without feeling like you are going to sweat up a lake. Doing a few sit up while watching TV is not that hard.

There are many other aspects to being healthy, but if you use common sense, it can be fairly easy. Not to say that it will happen over night. It might take a few weeks to see results. But don't you owe it to yourself to be good to you?

Hey guys! This is my first report I've done in quite some time. Please don't take this as absolute medical advice. I am not a doctor, nor a health expert. But they are just some things that I have noticed.

Hey Heidi! I enjoyed reading this. I drink lots of water and love long walks, but celery sticks just never win over chocolate bars with me. : P Carrots I like, though.
And welcome to AP! : )

Hello! Welcome to apricot pie!
I too enjoyed reading this. I myself love being healthy; it makes my lifestyle so much better!
On the subject of juice, (not trying to correct you or anything, just putting the info out there) the amount of ''natural sugars'' (fructose) in store bought juice has the same amount of sugar as in a can of soft drink. Of course, if you went and bought organic juice from a farm or something than it would be a lot better for you.
So yeah, you're right, using common sense is...well...common sense, I guess. And yes, marathons are not for everybody. A couple of kilometres are enough for me!
Looking forward to seeing more of your writing, Heidi :)
