What lies behind lidded eyes?
What fantasy,
What dream?
What lies waiting to be discovered?
What's invisible,
What's unseen?
Dreams, like rivers,
Flow freely, undeterred,
Splashing against the banks,
The sides of my subconscious.
***
How easy it is,
To fall open at your feet,
I'm an open book,
Ready to read.
Ease sweeps me,
Off my heightened seat,
Lifting me gently,
Into a friendly embrace,
Of ideas and conversation.
Your charm and flamboyance,
Has got me by the tongue,
Words spilling,
Easily jumping off my lips,
And into your large ears.
Friendly smile,
Shining back at me,
Your smile is as smooth,
And as delicate as your hands.
Your hands,
Your fingers,
Soothingly caress mine.
An exchange of energy,
Both bright and new,
Saying hello,
To a new idea or two.
Eager to tell,
Eager to share,
Your eyes meet mine with a loving kindness,
Only a stranger,
Knowing nothing but my education,
Hobbies and age,
Could express so sweetly.
My faults are unseen,
Concerning yourself only,
With the blemishes on the surface,
Though it is clear you can see within.
***
Heaviness of heart,
Heaviness of mind,
Slurred thoughts
And slurred lines of poetry.
Talent dumbed,
Dumbed by human restriction,
Your talent lies,
Wasted behind your wasted eyes.
***
My thoughts are gay,
Finally,
At last.
Grey yesterday, gay today.
My world shines,
Again,
Oh joy!
Bright ideas of a bright future,
Brightening still.
My heart mends,
Victory,
Hopefully.
Leaving behind the past,
Looking forward,
With tougher skin.
***
You still linger at the back of my mind,
But it's getting harder and harder to find,
The excuses I once loved.
***
The queen of investigation,
She reads your life like a book,
A book she's read many times before.
Not hard to piece together the clues,
The evidence doesn't have to be meaty.
***
Words flutter freely,
Fumbling and tumbling,
At the touch of my flitting fingers.
****
Glittering with intensity,
Gently crinkled corners,
Turned up,
In a mischievous smile.
Your energy sparkles,
Sparks and flares,
Flames reaching,
Desperately reaching heavenward.
****
Saying it aloud
Makes it concrete,
Hardening into something heavy
Too heavy to carry
Without dropping.
Man this is so much fun! Let me know what you think please, thanks for reading!

Great job on these! I really enjoyed them.
"You still linger at the back of my mind,
But it's getting harder and harder to find,
The excuses I once loved." That brings such a distinct sort of wishful feeling that I think everybody is familiar with. I also liked the last one a lot :0).

Thanks Erin! I have the best, most loyalist readers ever, the both you!!!
I'm going to try doing a weekly poetry post, and I have some poems ready for the week, just have to run them by a few people first ;)

Love this:
"To fall open at your feet,
I'm an open book,
Ready to read."
"At the touch of my flitting fingers."
Do you think you could name them? Or at least give them numbers? I think it helps the reader, and especially when commenting :)
Goodbye? Oh no, please. Can’t we just go back to page one and start all over again?” – Winnie The Pooh
Thanks!
Thanks Maddi! Sorry about not naming them, I'll certainly do that next time. :D

This is another string of good ones! After our convo last night, now I'm dying to know the backstory behind every one. ;)
You still linger at the back of my mind,

This was my favorite of the bunch! Especially that last line. :) I think free verse is your niche, Kassady! Seriously--all of these installments are the best that you've written. Please keep it up!
