There Is A Wind

There is a wind that whispers through the cold day and swirls through the colder night
There is a wind that comes from unknown places and hurries on into the haze
There is a wind that sighs with pleasure in the harvest fields and rattles happily in the treetops
There is a wind that carries falling leaves and drops them at your feet as you pass by
There is a wind that pierces fabric and dances with sharp steps on your warm skin
There is a wind that brings the smell of smoke mixed with spices in the brisk air
There is a wind that calls for fires, hot drinks, warm food, and close friendship
There is a wind that cavorts with joy outside a glowing window where families rest

There is a wind that catches voices in the night lifted high in love and praise
There is a wind that echoes with worship as it passes villages and castles miles away
There is a wind that fingers your hair as you walk beside a beloved friend
There is a wind that places words in your mouth to break the growing silence in the dark
There is a wind that lifts your arm to the waiting shoulders of the one beside you
There is a wind that guards the secrets breathed between you into the chilly air of night
There is a wind that pushes you close into the arms of one you thought was so far away
There is a wind that melts the tears as your hand lightly brushes those shimmering eyes

This was very beautifully done, Timothy. I loved it.

I was partly inspired by a past fall camp I have been to as a leader and one that I will be going on this fall. It is also just some thoughts on how I feel about fall and winter in general.

Lovely as always dear :) It partly made me sad that I couldn't immediately run outside into the wind like a kid. Its a lovely transition piece that really speaks to both kids and adults - and the ending was just perfect and romantic.

Lovely.

This is a really pretty piece. I love how you describe the different winds. My favorite line is "There is a wind that guards the secrets breathed between you into the chilly air of night..."
Despite your prejudices when you were younger, you are a great non-rhyming poet! :0)
