Trying Out Some New Poem Styles

Submitted by Madeline on Tue, 03/20/2012 - 15:04

Sorry for those of you who are reading Unsortable--there are a few more chapters that I need to post, but I'll probably have to wait until next week to do it! :)

I'm trying out some new poems after reading After the Kiss (amazing) by Terra Elan McVoy. It was such a great book, and I loved the poetry style.

So, here goes nothing.

Fly By

simple pleasures
...taken
for
granted
every day
coffee brewing
a drop of rain
sprig of sunshine
books
a breeze
this song
you and me sitting
on the porch
holding hearts
in
hands
yet these things go
without a
s e c o n d
thought
and we don't
really love them
until the
moment's
passed

Graze

a stray hand
upon my
knee
cheeks go
red
eyes go
wide
heart goes
fast
smile goes
timid
feet go
tap tap
nervously
on the pavement
hand goes
tap tap
nervously on my
knee
and you
seem to know
this graze
is
everything I
need

What is the meter? This was really cool! I liked the jumbled message of it! Please post of this stuff!

This style of poetry is one of my favorites :) I enjoyed this a lot, it was really cute.

Excellent use of style. I also just like the content a lot.
