Kassady and I wrote this together! We hope you like it! :-)
1. Do you like homeschooling?
No--it's torture! I'd rather go to public school where they would tease me and where the children participate in drugs!
2. How do you socialize?
Oh....I have friends! My dogs! My imaginary friends! Right now...this conversation is scaring me!
3. How do you learn?
Gee...I don't know! Well, sometimes mommy dearest will push me into the pond so I will learn how to swim. She doesn't want to pay for swimming lessons.
4. What is homeschooling?
Wow...I'm not sure! It's something like HOME SCHOOLING!
5. Do you particiapte in activities?
Oh, oh yes! I run after my siblings all the time. And occsionally we will play mad physco killers of doom. And we hit the chicken around to entertain ourselves.
6. Do you get breaks like the public school children?
Nope...we're sitting at a desk twelve hours a day. There's a lot of crying screaming and pain going on.
7. Well...do you learn anything?
Nope. Nada. We're stupid as squirrels. Actually, that would be an insult to squirrels.
8. Do you take tests?
Yes. So...so....so...so...MANY! They're so hard....and she...she makes us write the answers over and over until our hands bleed...until we get them right! PAIN! HELP ME! Save...me....yes, so so so so so many....
9. Do you feel isolated?
Like a monkey in a box.
10. What's your favorite thing about homeschooling?
The hours when it's not going on! Which is very few, by the way.
11. Do you do chores?
Yes...oh...yes. If we don't do them, we don't get any meals! We're starved most of the time!
12. Do you feel like you're learning as much as a public schooled child?
So little we're learning...we only learn important, critical life skils...while a public schooled child learns pie times three sqaured. Now...which do you think you're gonna need more in the future? Oh, and we do eighth grade math for FUN! Terrible, isn't it?

Haha!
This is so funny because it is so sadly true. It brings me back to the days when I was home schooled. When I told people about it, they would look at me like I had grown two heads and launch into the infamous questions, many you discussed here! I got so tired of hearing people (especially teachers) tell me that my social skills would be lacking by not going to regular schools. Well, I had been to regular school and private school (they were the reason I was homeschooled in the first place). I would smile and say that I surely missed being beat up and made fun of. I told them that I felt horrible that I could not participate in bullying, doing drugs, being promiscuous, etc. It was so funny that I gained more true friends by being homeschooled then I ever had by being in regular school. It is also funny that I am now an 4.0 college student with a leadership certificate and medals from my honor society for teamwork and leadership. Oh how anti-social homeschooling made me! :D

Hi Wings of Eternity! And Kassady! *wink, wink*
I was homeschooled because of public school as well! But, instead of a private school, we for a brief time went to a charter school. But mostly public school. And good for you! :) How neat that you have those awards and everything. I think homeschoolers are somewhat more social than public schoolers. I'm glad you enjoyed this!
And Kassady: Maybe we should?? The only thing is copywriting!

Hi HomeschoolGirl!
Thank you for your kind words! Yes, I agree that most homeschoolers I know are way more social and way more mature than people who went to regular school. We have something in common then about going to other schools before being homeschooled :) I really hated regular school because I was treated so badly. I find it quite ironic then that people say so many bad things about homeschoolers when it is clear that public schools have a load of problems themselves. Yes, I really enjoyed your and Kassady's list :) I read it to my mom too because she got a lot of grief for homeschooling us from other people as well. She thought it was really funny too! My favorite part of the list is occasionally playing psyhco killers of doom. I haven't laughed so hard in a while! It is true that some people think we are all insane or something and it sounds like something a really homeschool-phobic person would think. HaHa! I might have to say that to someone sometime just to see their reaction *wink* if that is alright with you and Kassady. Keep up the good humor and work! You should think about making a second list if you can find enough topics. I got a lot of questions from people and some weren't on the list like "What about the prom?" (Gasp of horror! Sure, why not give up everything that I gained from being homeschooled that the list is too long for this post in order for one night that I might not even get asked to anyway?) *Shakes head but smiles* They don't know what they are missing do they? *Mysterious wink*
God Bless you both!

You're very welcome! Thank you for reading and commenting! :)
I wholeheartedly agree--homeschoolers are a little bit more "out there" and most I know either love to make new friends or have a few select friends and are great at maintaining friendships! The best is being able to say, "I spent the night at my friends house on Wednesday!" And to see their jaws drop because, of course, public schoolers can't very well have sleepovers on school nights! Haha!
The same here! I liked the school part of it, but the social aspect didn't offer very much for me. In public school, you can be characterized as "popular" or "unpopular" and really that's all. And, if you're unpopular, you're not getting anywhere. :o
I'm glad she liked it as well! Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it and found it to be funny. I hoped people would! :) *big grin* I know...but the truth...homeschoolers are just insane! I think that happens when you're free to spend time as you choose and can express yourself! LOL!
Please, feel free to use one of them! Haha! I wish I'd have thought of them when we first started because we got ALL of these questions plus some. And, surprisingly, family seems to be the most speculative! The prom seems to be a big "gasp-worthy" question as well. Really, what are we missing? Nothing! :)
If only everyone was homeschooled! Haha! That would be an almost too-perfect world in the education sense.
Thanks so much again--for your comments and for taking the time to respond to our essay. Welcome to Apricot Pie as well!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I stumbled upon this site completely by accident while looking for some Chronicles of Narnia fanfiction (I have read a great deal of the tasteful stuff out there and was trying to find some more). I couldn't believe my eyes after I read a story here (I gotta look it back up and comment on it because it was quite good) that this site was for homeschoolers! I wish I would have known about this site when I was still being homeschooled because I would have loved to publish a lot of my work here. My goal in writing is to inspire others, and this seemed the perfect place to do that! I feel so blessed to have found this site and to become a member :) I miss fellowshipping with other homeschoolers. A lot of my homeschool friends went to back high school after being homeschooled and we drifted apart :( It is great to be here and be able to interact with my "other family" (homeschoolers). Thankfully, I keep all of my writing so I will try to publish some of it here. I am hoping to soon have enough poems to put them into a book. If that happens I will get my work copyrighted, but I still would like to publish some of my poetry here because the purpose is to get it "out there" for others to read and enjoy, not make money on it ;) Unfortunately, I used up my allowance this week for publications on publishing my freakishly long two part short story based on Chronicles of Narnia, but maybe next week I can publish a few pieces of my poetry. Thank you again for your wonderful welcome :)
As for homeschoolers being crazy, you are right on! We are crazy in a good way (of course) *wink*. I have said before that there is no such thing as a "normal" person, and if there was, who would honestly want to be one? Normal isn't fun! I always thought of life as a grand adventure with God guiding the way. He never said that we couldn't act a little crazy or have a little fun sometimes! That is one thing I can say about homeschooling, I could learn about God all I wanted without people saying I couldn't. Hurray for homeschoolers and homeschooling!
Well, I'm gonna check out some more writing here. Thanks again and I'll be in line to read anything else you happen to publish here!
God Bless,
Wings of Eternity
