I’m sitting by an iris;
What a lovely place to be!
I’m sitting by an iris,
And it’s growing beside me.
What doth make an iris?
Quite a lot, I’d think.
I’ve seen that purple color
In the running off wet ink.
What doth make an iris?
At the center I observe
A crown so fine, so fair-formed
My queen’s head it would turn.
What doth make an iris?
A golden pollen fuzz
Like the coat of Mr. Bumblebee
When by it he doth buzz.
What doth make an iris?
Oh! Just like that regal stem
The Genius Who made iris
His work doth surely ken.

Beautiful and very easy to
Beautiful and very easy to read, as the timing is steady and consistant. Five stars =)
Why doth the little crocidile
Why doth the little crocidile improve his shining tale...LOL. Sorry, but this made me think of that. This is such a cheerful, sweet, bright poem. I love it!
Interesting.
Thou surely doest use the word "doth" quite frequently.
And who, pray tell, is "my queen"?

@Ezra
Well, "What makes an iris" didn't fit the meter I wanted, and "What does make an iris" didn't sound right. I happen to like doth.
Not sure. Queens aren't usually very handy in the backyards of Michigan, even iris-growing ones. I liked "my queen" better than "a queen."
As you can see, this poem is more about what sounds I like than the sense it made.

I suppose I should set this straight.
For the record, I made the above comment under Ezra's name. Ezra happened to be logged in automatically, and I thought he wasn't commenting enough...
...so I used one of his comments.
Thanks for answering my questions.

Hm, no kidding?
I thought it sounded more like you.

Hmm....
I didn't want to read this poem, because I thought you were talking about the Egypt goddess Iris and as the title says " and Creator" I thought about Osiris ( I probably spelt that wrong) the Egypt sun god. There was a sad Egypt myth about Iris and Osiris. Osiris was king over all and Iris his queen and wife ( and also sister, yuck and weird right!). Set his brother god of Evil was jealous of Osiris and made a evil plot to get rid of Osiris. So Osiris on his... Birthday? It was some sort of celibration was given a lovely coffin by his brother Set, his brother Set said " Who ever fits this beautiful coffin will have it", so of course, like all storys the coffin only fitted Osiris. Set slamed the coffin shut on Osiris. I'm a little foggy on what happend after that, but Iris was very sad and mourned and looked to find him, she found him and reserected him from death by turning into a sparrow ... or maby it was a finch? It was some sort of bird! and flaped breath back in him from her wings.
If you already knew this myth ( which, by being a homeschooler, I think you do) I'm sorry for the long story to get to the point ...
But It was VERY GOOD! much better than I thought it was. It made me feel like I had a good shower after playing outside all day. Refeshing!
Good job

This is really catchy :0) I
This is really catchy :0) I especially like this part: what doth make an iris/a golden pollen fuzz, like the coat of Mr. Bumblebee/when by it he doth buzz.
