Marrick took one look at the notice and tore it down. He ripped it in half and tossed it in the trashcan, then glanced back at Brynt.

"And you were just 'released'?"

"Apparently they have an odd way of determining whether someone should be allowed back into the public. They let me in even though you're probably more ready than I am." Brynt glanced at Marrick from the side. "What are you planning on doing?"

"Where have the police been alerted?"

"All around the country, an alert proclaiming that a murderer by the name of Greyson D. Marrick is on the loose."

"I killed one man. In defense."

"Not only that, but they're blaming several murders of unknown causes on you."

"Without proof."

"They need someone to blame it on so they can keep their jobs."

"I'd be willing to go to jail. For the one man." Marrick sat down behind his desk, but all he did was study its surface.

"Meaning if they caught you and gave you the judgement they thought you deserved, you'd try to get out after three years, with about a thirtieth of the sentence complete."

"Basically."

Brynt paused. "I'd hate to lose you for any amount of time ...but in three years I should have more than enough money to bail you out."

"How long do you think it'll take for the whole project to be ready?"

"Oh, not for a few years, at the very least. And I wouldn't expect the process to be expedited by your arrest ...are you planning on turning yourself in, or are you just waiting for them to find you?"

"Turn myself in."

"Why?"

"Because it makes it easier on everybody -easier for them because they don't have to struggle, easier for me because the bail might be less if I 'gave in', and easier for you because not only would the bail take less of your resources, I'd be able to get to know how they're tracking you."
