If Given the Chance & On Further Reflection

Submitted by Anna on Tue, 03/09/2010 - 22:26

Part 1
If given the chance, if given the chance
If given the chance, I’m sure it would work
We don’t talk alike, but I’m sure I can change
We don’t think alike, but I’m sure I’ll fix that.
We don’t like things alike, but I’m sure I’ll learn.
We don’t look alike—now that may be a problem.
But I’m sure, if given the chance, we’ll get around it.
If given the chance, if given the chance,
If given the chance, could I be like you?
Part 2
On further reflection
I realize how crazy I sound.
On further reflection
I discover I’m surely wrong.
On further reflection,
I feel extremely silly.
No two people were ever less alike,
On further reflection.
Let’s compromise.
May I ask you
To love me the way I am?
…On further reflection,
I don’t think I’ll ask.

What's it mean, exactly?  I almost got it, and then I lost it.

"I always wonder why birds stay in the same place when they can fly anywhere on the earth. Then I ask myself the same question." - Harun Yahya

I don't find it confusing. I like it, and you make a wonderful point. :)

Yay, Kyleigh got it... heh heh.

I'm curious to know how you interpret it.

I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right. --The Book Thief

I also got it. Very nice.

"There are no great men of God. There are only pitiful, sorry men whose God is great beyond measure." - Paul Washer [originally Jonathan Edwards]

So marvelous. I got it. It's very cool. Love the rhythm

...I think.  Interesting thought progression.

"I think, therefore I am."

"The idea that we should approach science without a philosophy is itself a philosophy... and a bad one, because it is self-refuting." -- Dr. Jason Lisle

If they're about what I think they're about, then they made me kind of sad. :(

But otherwise I really like them!
