Unrestrained Beauty

Spring has arrived. The nippy breeze rushes past me, mixing a soft chill with the suns warm rays. As I wander aimlessly through the new-living yard, simply breathing the crisp air, I feel like I’m breathing in a fresh start, a new year. I smile warmly. The sun makes me happy.
The green leaves inch out, setting a striking contrast against the dark brown trunks of the trees. They seem so alive. The sun’s hands encourage them to push out and burst through the bonds that tie them down. The flowers too are picking up their heavy heads, sighing in the breeze. Their awakening faces alit with pleasure once their drowsy eyes open.

     Beginning.

Birds are calling cheerily above my head, passing signals back and forth to each other, laughing gaily at their secrets that I cannot understand.
I shake my head at them and lie down in the sweet smelling grass, gazing at the clouds in sleepy contentment. Their fluffy white shapes have pictures engraved in them, but slowly, as they drift on by, the pictures change. If I watch closely, I can see stories playing through the sky.
Then, suddenly, the soft rain begins to patter down. I sigh, and rush back to the house, my sneakers squeaking on the floor of the garage.
Once inside I grab a blanket and sit by the window to listen to the tapping against the glass. I open it up to smell the rain. It has one of the most memorable smells for me, as does the cool damp air that escapes through the crack and flows through my hair. I will never forget the feeling of  spring rain.

     Life.

I loved this! So lovely and raw. I loved the way you described spring rain (it's my favorite too). Perfect.
