This Musty Road Meandering

all the same in one sense
all are saints in progress

clad in heavy weight of sinners garb
too busy to stop and see their scars

some may hide and turn away
but we are running the same race

different ways
different pace

and yet He loves brokenhearted
run down, weary and afraid

and yet He raises all the lowly
cold, homeless, and unworthy

makes us shine through our tears
breathes His beauty into our fears

pulls us up so we can stand
shows us freedom in bleeding hands

we choose wrong and He shows right
we back down, He whispers 'fight'

we cry out in surrender
His voice calls to us even louder

to save us from ourselves and the world
we must look to Him above our lives grown bold

He is the one who conquered impossible
we can't doubt if we look inside our souls

because of our helplessness He calls
because of our littleness He makes us what we are

to Him we are His daughters and sons
to Him each of us means as much

our honesty is what closes the mouth of ire
and makes known to us who we are and our desire

we struggle to reach what seems so far
He knows what it's like, and shows us His scars

once we can see them and understand
we will know why we must not only rise but why we can

all are same in one sense
all are saints in progress

sinners, doubters, all alike
when truly repentant in the Saviors light

He is waiting for us to come
close to Him to feel His love

that is what gives us our hope
that is how we truly can grow

we must keep moving, persevering
on this musty road meandering
