*I don't know what made me think of this today, but here's what came of it...*
It was green, I remember,
fields stretching long,
and bushes hunched together
blackberries
It was stone, I remember,
statues, steps, path
grass growing through the cracks
and the pool full of our reflections
and tadpoles
It was damp, I remember
on a cloudy day under sweeping trees
reaching high with rustling leaves,
and the little house in the shadows with cobwebby sills
chasing, running
It was warm, I remember,
in a bright room surrounded by
talking, eating, laughing, friends
while it rained or snowed outside
contentment
It was dim, I remember
in a partly lit, with candle-lights
and the altar up ahead, window behind
litanies as lulling words
or perhaps the smooth pew near friends,
piano, song
It was cold, I remember
the snow was stiff and icy,
we skated, crunched, the whiteness
clinging to clothes and hats and hair,
glorious
It was wooden, I remember
up, up, creaky stairs
drinking pulpy orange juice,
but then they were gone,
and we were in an attic room
telling stories in the closet, licking honey, finding drawers
sheep
We were little, I remember,
and it was big
adventurous but nestled in peace
the stump of a tree, partly rotten
and the tadpoles and stones, not forgotten
I still have the scrap, I still have the thread,
I still have these things which I cannot forget
And though we may never return, we are together still
I wonder...
do you? Do you still remember
those happy times we spent, blessed...
My heart smiles at the thought of Marycrest.

I really liked this depiction of Marycrest, Hannah. I miss it a lot. This part was my favorite:
"We were little, I remember,
and it was big
adventurous but nestled in peace
the stump of a tree, partly rotten
and the tadpoles and stones, not forgotten
I still have the scrap, I still have the thread,
I still have these things which I cannot forget..."
I liked the whole flow of the poem and it's unique spacing. It's kind of like my style. :)
