______1______ Liza              Liza paced back and forth through her bedroom, Edith sitting quietly on the bed. “Oh, Edith! Why haven’t you told me?” she cried suddenly, whirling around to face the maid and wringing her arms rather madly. Edith’s kind, wrinkled face remained solemn.             “I figured that maybe you would take the time to know your daughter better. You know my views on the matter,” said Edith quietly, looking Liza right in the face. Liza looked mutinous.             “I know my daughter! What are you talking about! I know all of her favorite…….Er……Hobbies! I know she loves basketball!” Liza cried indignantly. Edith raised her eyebrows and crossed her arms in front.             “Liza, that’s Summer,” Edith said gently. Liza’s face seemed to fall, but she hid it quickly.             “Summer’s my daughter,” Liza snapped.             “That may be, but so is Shayde, and she needs you,” replied Edith coolly. Liza sighed, her heart now feeling rather heavy. She looked up at Edith’s wise face.             “Should I tell her?” she asked heavily.             Edith nodded. “I thought you should have told her a long time ago, sweetie.”               Summer, her half-sister, called for her. “Shayde! Shayde! Mom wants to talk to you!”             Shayde had been peacefully sitting in the kitchen, sipping a glass of water and watching the last droplets of rain fall off of the rafters outside. She looked to Summer, her eyes narrowed in suspicion.             “What for?” she asked rather snappishly.             Summer walked into the kitchen and folded her well-tanned arms. “I don’t know. I didn’t ask,” then she flipped her light blond ponytail and walked towards the door, pausing as her hand reached for the doorknob. “She’s in hers and Dad—er—Matt’s bedroom,” she added, and then she walked out the door.             Rolling her eyes, Shayde set down her glass and walked through the gigantic main room, up the white and gold staircase, took a left down a hall full of portraits, then came across the fourth door on the right. She opened the door and found her mother sitting on the double-king sized bed that she had special ordered from France.             “Close the door, please,” said Liza in an unusually sweet voice. That was all Shayde had ever called her mother, was by her first name. She wasn’t fit to be called a mother.             Shayde did as she was told but stayed at the doorway, staring at her mother uncertainly. She tried to look stubborn by folding her arms and sticking out her chin, because surely that was all Liza wanted, was something of hers, though she couldn’t imagine what.             “Please come closer, Shayde,” said Liza in a pleading sort of voice.             Taken aback by this, Shayde obeyed much more quickly than she normally would have. She moved closer and sat down on the nearby loveseat.             “What do you want?” Shayde demanded in a low voice, recovering her usual manner quickly.             “I-I don’t want anything, sweetie,” Liza said, looking genuinely surprised. Shayde raised an eyebrow skeptically but said nothing.             “I need to tell you something. Something I’ve needed to tell you for many years now,” said Liza in the same quiet, uncharacteristically sweet voice. Shayde glowered.             “What, then?”             “It’s about your father.”             Shayde felt her eyes widen, and she tensed in her chair, gripping the chair armrests very hard. Liza never talked about her father; Shayde didn’t even know his name.             “You’ll…..You’ll think I’ve gone insane when you hear this,” Liza began, her voice trembling slightly. “But your father is the Storm God.”

Well this is an interesting beginning to a story from which I divine several things.

One: Shayde is the Storm God's daughter. :P

Two: She and her mom don't really get along.

Three: She doesn't know how to relate to her sister.

:) More, please! I want to see how I'm right!!

P.S. Is this going to be anything like the Percy Jackson series?!?!

OK, first: YES, ANOTHER READER OF PERCY JACKSON!!!!!!! I got my books signed by the author!

I don't plan on it being like the Percy Jackson books, I just got the idea of half-bloods from them. I'm glad you like it so far :-)

I've never read Percy Jackson and I love this!  Shayde and Summer.  It sounds like a book title I have:  Sunlight and Shadow.  Brilliant idea for a story.  I always knew it should be a story!  Wasn't I brilliant???  *grins happily*

Thanks! Yes, you were brilliant :-)  And you must read Percy Jackson!!! It's awesome. That was my idea, Shayde and Summer, since Summer was bright and athletic and Shayde dark and sullen......
