Backyard

Backyard

Sunlight brushes your cheeks
Branches brush your hair
The birds sing a choir
As if they know you’re there

The trees dance
The wind whistles
The squirrels chant
The cat bristles

You laugh
Your arms spread
You lay in the grass
‘Tis now your bed

A caterpillar climbs your finger
A mighty mountain to he
You watch him gently cross
Then you look to the bee

The bee buzzes
Busy as could be
Sucking all his nectar
Yummy, yummy, you think

You only wish to stay here
In this magical place called your backyard
But when Mom calls “Lunchtime!”
You can do nothing but move on

You look back at this nature
You smile and hope it will still be there when you return
Then you prance inside
And cry “Lunchtime!”

Hope everybody likes. I love poetry, but it's very difficult for me to write. Enjoy (hopefully!)

This brings back memories of our backyard in the states... and my gramma's house. And our stinkin' little backyard here, if you could call it that.
You did a wonderful job of capturing experiences in words. :)

Oooh, I like it. I can almost smell it. What kind of lunch was it? Hey I heard about Adam, and I think he should have won because I saw Kris and he wasn't near as good. He wasn't cute either.

"California", he said, "is a beautiful wild kid on heroin, high as a kite and thinking she's on top of the world, not knowing that she's dying, not believing it even when you show her the marks." - Motorcycle Boy, from S.E. Hinton's 'Rumble Fish"

"I always wonder why birds stay in the same place when they can fly anywhere on the earth. Then I ask myself the same question." - Harun Yahya

Lol, it's alright. Now Adam can have more freedom instead of needing to follow Idol's rules for a year XD. Glad you like the poem! Hmmm....What was the lunch? I guess whatever you want ;)
