Summer Days Are Here

Summer days are here: Afternoons with hazy drear, Vacation’s sweet release, Escaping into peace.
My face is red, and oh my head, Evades not the languid torrid.
Feel the heat of the day, Receive humidity from the bay, Oh, for winter’s rain! My heart longs for the heat to wane…
The tread of unshod feet, Heats like burning peat, Incessant smog hangs low, Shadowing every lonely crow.
Haze hides sun and sky, Every day ends with a sigh: Air conditi’ning’s sweet relief, Thou, summer, please be brief!

Yes, I know, summer days aren’t really here yet, but it sure feels like it here! It’s 35 C outside right now, with 47\% humidity. It’s in the 40’s every afternoon. And it’s May… and I’m already longing for “vacation’s sweet release” at my gramma’s house in Washington State and my music camp.

(And I used James's secret message technique... it was a challenge, but very fun. :) )

LOL, this was great!
I love the secret message. :D

If I disappear, and you cannot find me, please don't worry.
Just be sure to check all the wardrobes.

"I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve." -Bilbo Baggins [The Lord of the Rings]

I didn't even realize you were using an acrostic until I read the side content. Nicely done!

lol

That sound like a Calvin and Hobbes poem. :)

I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right. --The Book Thief

This was so good! I had to go back and look for the "hidden message" but I found it :)
It gets really hot were I like too, but it's not a sticky hot...just a dry hot, which can be very annoying when you have long, DRY hair to deal with :)

"To produce a mighty book, you must choose a mighty theme. No great and enduring volume can ever be written on the flea, though many there be that have tried it." -- Herman Melville

This was really good. I love it. And the hidden message. Very nice. How long did it take to do it?

As far as hair, terrible stuff, so annoying. Very rarely does hair listen, and do what it's told.

"Here are the beauties which pierce like swords or burn like cold iron." C.S.Lewis

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God such men lived."
General George S. Patton

LOL, I love this!

"Yes, I did google myself. When my friends and family told me to, I did!" -Adam Lambert (And all of his awesomeness!)

"You were not meant to fit into a shallow box built by someone else." -J. Raymond

Hm Hm. Funny. We haven't gotten REALLY hot yet...I really don't think I mind. Humid heat is the worst kind of heat. It sticks to you and even jumping in a pool doesn't help. You poor boiling creature...swamp coolers don't help, do they? Oh, and the secret message thing was just lovely. It must have taken a while.

"I decided to be sensible the other day and tore up David's picture. Could you please send me some Scotch tape?" Audrey Hepburn (Sabrina)

Thanks, y'all!
The acrostic was actually more fun than hard. I'd never really done anything like that before.

Old Fashioned Girl - Humidity and long, wavy hair don't go well together, either. :P It kinda goes "poof" if I go outside in the summer when it's wet.
