Loving Memories

Through the haze of something long un-thought of
it comes,
flowing from a dusty memory
to something clear
and my heart aches with the bittersweet drifts of it,
as it slowly takes over

It becomes so vivid,
that it is hard to imagine it gone
it seems to fill me
and at the same time
take part of me away
The memory of a day

Days past,
some long ago
others more close
All filled with the warm feeling
of a generous heart
and a gift of great love

You feel a little rush of peace
for though she is gone
the memories remain
like drops after a rain

We were blessed.
Those memories are great
and that warm feeling we received
from the generous heart and loving smile
can never be taken away

Life will become different
for something is missing
But like she helped us
and taught us,
we will grow

Now she is free from life
and will be closer
than she ever could be before
And while we will remember her smile with tears
her joy will remain with us
through the rest of our years

God blessed us
with her beauty
He now calls her to Him
And now we let go
sending her home

...I hope you know
that we loved you
...and we love you.

My great grandma passed away a few months ago, and it had a huge effect on me. This is for her.

I liked how you broke up the sentences. Favorite verse:
