o sweet exchange
which takes my heart and gives me Yours
the white host asks the question
“will you lose yourself for Me?”
o blessed hope
heart hallowed, held, unhindered
says “Amen”
tear out from me myself
pour into me Your life-blood
and the kiss of the host on my lips, my tongue
says I am not my own
and in the loss of myself, I am found
o hallowed meeting
take my life and give me Yours
the white host asks the question
“will you give your life for Me?”
o darling look
love living, longing, enlivened
says “I do”
I die to all that is of me
choose life, and choose to find it in Your love
and the kiss of the host on my heart, my soul
says I am dying and rising
and in the sacrifice I come alive
o dearest promise
which takes my loaves and fish and feeds the world
the white host asks the question
“will you give your all to Me?”
o sacred face
faith fallen, fearful, unfurled
cries “I will”
I choose to trust You with my life
come in, come have Your way with me
and the power in the little white host
is that I am nothing on my own
and I am everything in You
I am all I have to give
but all I am is all You ask for
and in my emptiness I am filled
and in my givenness I am free
enter, o Holy One, this heart
come, hollow out my soul
hallow this ground
and here, o Lamb of God, abide
here reign, receive my life, restore
Your image, here
and here be lifted high
amen

Aisling, I keep forgetting how well your writing flows, and how very creative and beautiful it is, until you post something new and remind me all over. This is one of the most beautiful poems... I especially loved the ending. So rich.

Wow.
That was... Epic. Epic is the only word I can think of to describe it.

Brother: Your character should drive a motorcycle.
Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!

This is awesome, Aisling.

"Out of doubt, out of dark to the day's rising,
I came singing in the sun, sword unsheathing.
To hope's end I rode and to heart's breaking:
Now for wrath, now for ruin and a red nightfall!"
