There is a room at the end of the hall
filled with the things we leave behind
lying like dried leaves in fall
familiar as a nursery rhyme
On the shelves are dusty globes
made of glass and full of snow
each holds a dream, now dusty and cold
which once did glitter like riches untold
Below them musty volumes sit
filled with every joy and wish
written in a childish hand
stories tell of foreign lands
Mysterious words in unknown tongues
which perhaps we knew when we were young,
are written round the ceiling-edge
with golden stars above your head
A piano plays a distant tune
which was once so easy dancing to
colored cloth hangs here and there
scented like the summer fair
Scattered coins lie on the floor
and shells gathered on some distant shore
with pieces of torn treasure-maps...
I wonder: must we all forget?

That was great. It reminds me of something, I'm not quite sure what... something elusive and bittersweet...

This kind of reminds me of the beginning of The Phantom of the Opera, when everything is old and forgotten, and the Opera is no longer the grand place it was. I like it.
