Poetry Reading Party

The last party being so much fun, I'm happy to announce that Saturday September 29th I'm planning on hosting another poetry reading in Portland, Oregon.

It was really delightful at our last poetry reading how when a poem would be read it would often remind someone else of another poem, and so the recitations formed a kind of conversation ranging over many subjects. In total, about forty poems were shared with writers such as Melville, Whitman, Lewis Carroll, Christina Rossetti, and the Beowulf poet represented. Also, several authors were present and shared from their own oeuvres, including Apricotpie's own James, Ezra, and me.

And I shall endeavor to bring a few others with me as well... plus a book of poetry by Rudyard Kipling. :)

Looking forward to seeing you there James! I'm sorry that you can't make it Libby.

I should mention that room and board will be provided for any out-of-towners.

Also, on the Sunday the 30th I'm going to be giving the second part of a talk on the poets John Newton, William Cowper and their book The Olney Hymns. A few apricotpie people were here for the first part -- the whole weekend can be poetic.

And he was just wondering, for he was a severe critic of his own work, whether that last line couldn't be polished up a bit...
