On the Pursuit of Wisdom

The cry of wisdom echos in the streets
But who can find her place?
And from the Lord comes knowledge pure and sweet
But who will come and taste?

Some men profess to have her rich, rare jewels
But they are as the blind
Proclaim themselves as wise yet are but fools
And can no gemstone find.

Yet as their master does so posture, they
Call slyly to the young
Who think they see pure pearls on that way
But find they’ve followed dung

But wisdom hath her table filled with meat,
And ground her wheat for bread,
She calls the young and foolish men she meets
To sit before her spread

“The origin of wisdom is the Lord
And the true fear of him
These truths bind us to him with strongest cord
And light our pathways dim”

Very nice. It flows naturally and I like the contrasting length of line.

And he was just wondering, for he was a severe critic of his own work, whether that last line couldn't be polished up a bit...
