The Sly Fox And the Bear
Once upon a time, in a forest called Granamia, there lived a fox. On the opposite side, there lived a bear. Now the fox was powerful hungry, and he was willing to eat any meat that came his way, because he hadn't eaten in days. So, he set off to find anything that was meat that he could eat. Even a bear, if he had to. He knew he was smarter than any bear, or so he thought. But, the bear that lived on the other side of the forest was known quite well on his side of the forest for his cleverness. But, as the fox lived on the other side, he didn't know this.
This bear was much smarter than your average bear. And as the fox skipped along, whistling happily, he came upon the bears house, which was a tree. Now, the bear did not live on the tree, but he lived in it. Well, at that moment, a big black bear came out, and the fox ran as fast as his legs could carry him behind some bushes, licking his chops joyfully. Well, he sat there, and waited. And waited.
And waited some more, until he had grown very impatient and couldn't wait a moment later. So, he crept out on tiptoes, and quietly opened the door. But the bear had seen the fox run into the bushes when he had come out, so he was hiding, waiting for the fox to come in.
Upon seeing no one, the fox began to search under and behind things. But the last place he would have ever thought to look was the fireplace. There in it sat the big black bear, practically concealed in ashes and soot, looking just like a big pile of ashes covered in soot. Most of him but his tail was sticking out, but because he was as black as the ashes and soot on him, it didn't matter.
And his nose was sticking out, too, and his eyes, so he would be able to see when the best time to pounce was.
Well, that fox was now bent over, peering cautiously under the table cloth on the table, and the bear, quickly but quietly scampered out of the fireplace, leaving soot footprints behind him.
And before the fox knew what in the world was happening, the bear had done gone and swallowed him whole! And that was the end of the sly fox. He never had to be hungry again, never had to eat, never even had to worry about dying of hunger. All his troubles were over, and he certainly wasn't hungry anymore. He was dead as a doornail.
