What is it like here? I'm glad you asked. It's really a lovely place, our home. I'll tell you all about it.

We have such beautiful life growing here. Trees and oceans and animals. We love to look at them while we rest inside our homes that we built for ourselves.

We're so very happy, because we work so hard at it. We all have the same job, pursuers of happiness. We know that it's just around the next bend in the road.

We have so much stuff, so many things to love. We strive and chase after the next thing, hoping we don't get bored of it too fast. But there's always more so we know we're safe.

We have more fun than we know what to do with. We have a never-ending supply of laughs and thrills and diversions, and we never have to stop being entertained if we don't want to.

We love to search for the truth. We know that if we search hard enough, we'll never have to stop and think. We hope we can spend our whole lives seeking and never have to find what's really true. But it's okay because we're quite sure there's nothing to find after all.

Some people get unhappy about our wonderful lives and tell us to do things differently, but we always find out they live the same way as us after all.

So we dream cheap dreams and fancy plastic fantasies and fill our minds with lovely little lusts. We make love and sex so very meaningless so everyone can enjoy them.

We are all so special. So special we get to spend ourselves and our bodies on any and every pleasure we want. We are so full of worth we get to be worthless.

Sometimes one or two people will make a big deal about the sun rising in the morning and the rain still falling on us all, but we don't pay much attention to babbling like that.

We play hard, we love the night, and we go to sleep praying to nobody that the morning doesn't hurt too bad.

We live long lives, unless somebody kills us or we kill ourselves. But we don't stop long to mourn because we've got to keep going, going.

We live for nobody and nobody lives for us.

It's a lovely place.

How charmingly cynical. Of course I know it's true for a lot of people...but fortunately, there are really quite a few people around who like to babble about the rain still falling on us all. I like this--you've managed to avoid sounding preachy, which is somewhat difficult to do when talking about the darker sides of earthlings.

A scathing indictment of materialism.

I enjoy the scathing and ironic knock-down of post modern philosophy.

And, not to change the subject or anything, but I can't help noticing that the shadow in your profile picture seems to have a significant other.

James, that is a reasonable (and accurate) deduction. I just realized how long it's been since I posted regularly on here, for some reason I assumed people would know since we've been together for nearly a year. But yes, her name is Emily for those who care to know about these things. :)

Wow. Just wow.
