Fit the First: Arrival

Submitted by Hannah W. on Wed, 01/28/2009 - 18:53

"At last we arrive!" the Pickler did cry
as he reached the top of the hill
and brushing a tear at the edge of his eye
he called for his men to be still

"At last we arrive! I'll say it once more,
for here is the place we have sought;
at last we arrive! I'm perfectly sure
that here's where the map has us brought."

The Pickler's job was once in a place
where he pickled his pickles all day
till a map fluttered down and flapped in his face,
and did take his poor breath all away.

The Rules of Royalty

Submitted by E on Sat, 12/06/2008 - 02:12

*AN* I know, this is completely horrible and very random. Hope y'all enjoy! Lol

Here,

I show you,

The rules of royalty.

They are actually

Quite simple,

Just follow them:

Look stiff,

Keep a cheesy smile,

Walk funny,

Talk snootily in a British accent,

And, last, but not least,

Be snobby.

These are the rules of royalty,

I hope they helped you learn,

Now follow them closely,

Listen well,

And you will be queen/king of England!

Knitting Needles Are Not For Knitting

Submitted by Clare Marie on Wed, 11/05/2008 - 21:57

It started with a simple question....

“Do you knit?” My friend Anne was over for the day and we had been talking pleasantly about books and movies on the floor of my bedroom, when she espied my long-neglected bag of knitting. She of course asked the inevitable.

“Occasionally,” I answered, sighing a little while trying to recall the last time I had actually completed a knitting project. Anne then rummaged through the bag and drew out my largest pair of needles, made of fat, grey plastic.

The Night the Moon Fell Down

Submitted by Hannah W. on Tue, 10/21/2008 - 18:44

She was sitting by the window,
the night the moon fell down,
she was watching the stars go streaking
across the smooth black sky,
like long-legged creatures
skimming the surface of the water
the night the moon fell down
He fell from the sky
and his half-shadowed face
glowed pale in the streetlight
his icy blue eyes
glinting coldly below
the window where she watched
the night the moon fell down
In his eyes she beheld
the anger and fear
that he felt, and he shivered
here on the ground

The Mailman's Pledge

Submitted by Hannah W. on Tue, 10/07/2008 - 13:32

Not snow, nor rain,
nor hail, nor sleet...

Or barking dogs or aching feet,

Or crazy kids or funny hats,
or packages and heavy sacks

Nor great windy twisters
that drop in from Kansas
Nor bamboo forests
with black-and-white pandas

Nor iron gates or garbage cans
or blistering, barren destert lands

Nor wolves that howl with all their might,
nor spooky shadows in the night

Nor chocolate cake or cinnamon,
Nor baking soda or fishes' fins

Absolutely Nothing

Submitted by Hannah W. on Sun, 08/24/2008 - 00:45

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING

You'll never guess
you'll never be able to say
You'll never ever ever guess
what I've done today.

I didn't ride an elephant,
or dive to ships sunk deep,
I didn't climb a mountain,
I didn't even sleep.

I didn't chase a butterfly,
or sail the seven seas,
I didn't swing from branches high,
or eat broccoli and cheese.

I didn't herd some buffalo,
or run across the world,
I didn't make a daisy chain,
or wave a flag unfurled.
