Veronica's Heart

Submitted by Mairead on Sat, 05/07/2011 - 02:39

Christ,

wounded,

bloodied.

The face of Love,

marred.

Sweat and dust

mixing with the blood,

that He is spilling

from His heart.

The heart of God.

Where is the glory?

Why tears?

Where is the gold crown?

Why is this fear?

Why do I see Him crashing down?

Where is the triumph?

Where is the throne?

Who can save Him?

Why is He alone?

My love isn't enough.

My heart is quaking.

Twilight

fog,

drifting,

ghost like

shadows, dark but alluring

meeting the sky.

I'm asleep in reality

not awake in a dream,

almost serene

but aching.

silent weight

encompassing my hearts throng

turning it low and melodious.

I wish someone would sing along

to the forgotten bars

of my song.

low,

deep,

sweet.

my heart beats

melting

with the orange glow;

orange fading.

my hearts song, my life strains

the pounding quietly resounds.

Friends

Submitted by Keri on Sun, 08/15/2010 - 23:29

I'm drifting away from most all my friends

One by one, we're starting to end

Is it me or is it them?

People I would always defend

Turn and tease, unknowing offend

Is it me, or is it them?

I'd like for each problem to mend

I'd like to to connect again

Is it me or is it them?

I'm drifting away from most all my friends

Differences Unite

assurance that You're faithful
but still a storm

You are always tall
but the battle is a loud call

Amen comes from parted lips
but behind is found bitterness

You are here
but still it's easy to scream of fear

faith of being kept
but silence tightens breath

You are right beside
but there are things dying

understanding being found
but looking up from being drowned

truth about being held
but not an easy thought once felled

Faraway Yesterdays

Submitted by Mairead on Sun, 08/30/2009 - 19:09

Walking across the dust covered floor, uncovering old laughter in my mind, of the times we'd tried to keep things quiet. Do you remember the failure of our fluffy pillow covers, when we hoped not to make a sound? Trying not to wake our sleeping little brother in the next room? Those times, of happy hearts, joy, and ease? Light minds and new starts. We were truly free. Almost running everywhere we dared, without fear or any cares.

Longing

Submitted by Hannah W. on Mon, 10/27/2008 - 02:11

My legs long to run,
my heart longs to beat,
I yearn for the feeling,
of lifting off my feet

My voice longs to sing,
my ears long to hear
the song of the wild,
that is calling so near

My soul longs to soar
above rolling hills,
I wish I could wander
and climb trees at will

I know that I must
follow my spirit, away
and live with the land
till the end of my days.

Cry of the Heart

Submitted by Heather on Wed, 09/05/2007 - 15:19

It’s something you love
Yet bitterly hate
The feel in your chest
The hollow empty place
It’s something you can’t
Quite put into words, a
Longing for something
New and better
Something that stirs
But never fully wakes
It brushes the edge
Of your consciousness
When you look at a
Hauntingly beautiful scene
Something about it
Makes your chest ache
For a thing so glorious
Something so far better
Than earth can offer
Heed its call, Lord God
The Cry of the Heart
