Heaven

It's Not Goodbye

Submitted by Wings of Eternity on Fri, 07/10/2020 - 02:44

I'm fine now,
don't you cry.
I'll see you soon,
it's not goodbye.

Remember I'm
always in light,
when you miss me
in the dead of night.

Remember how
much fun we shared.
Remember how
much that we cared.

In our love,
we'll never part.
You'll always have me
in your heart.

Don't you worry,
I'm in God's love,
here in heaven
up above.

I'm fine now,
don't you cry.
I'll see you soon,
it's not goodbye.

No Longer

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Fri, 10/26/2018 - 02:41

No longer need for light
No lack of day
Blindness gone away
No longer night

Sun sent it’s blinding rays
Night took its last climb
Washed in warm love sublime
Joy filled days

Rainbow is the promise sign
Bask in crisp glow
The Loved no longer below
All saints align

Wings of Victory

Submitted by Sarah Liz on Tue, 02/14/2017 - 02:33

Borne on wings of victory
Sealed for courts above
Soaring high above the heavens
Freed from sin and care
Let me sing salvation's story
Shout His praise forevermore
Lift your voice and with me praise Him
Borne on vict’rys wing.

Once I was a lonely stranger
Never finding rest
But He drew me to a fountain
Where love divine was giv'n.
Bowing at my Savior's cross
Where Jesus bore my shame
My weary life--renewed, restored
And borne on vict'rys wing.

The Strait Gate

Submitted by Sarah Liz on Wed, 04/27/2016 - 03:23

The gate that we enter is narrow
The passersby are few
The clouds above us are threatening
The fog is thickn’ing gloom

The brothers around us are fainting
Our blood is mixed with our sweat
The air is fraught with dark danger
The ground with pitfalls and snares.

But, hark! The cries of angels
Lo! The sound of song
Hear the voice of heavenly anthems
Ring out on higher ground.

Don’t give up, my brother
Stay strong, my sister dear
Though the war around is raging
Fight on to higher ground.

To Touch Glory

Submitted by Sarah Liz on Sat, 02/20/2016 - 18:00

One day I’ll wake up—
And never sleep again.
One day I’ll sing—
And break forth into angels’ anthems.
One day I will run—
And never grow weary.
One day I will laugh—
And never cry again.
One day I will wade in a river—
The River of Life.
One day I will sing praises—
And truly sin no more.
One day I will cast my crowns before the throne—
The throne of God.
One day I will hear clapping thunder and many voices, and see flashing lightning and radiant beauty—
The glory of Yahweh Himself.

Made Whole

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Sun, 01/17/2016 - 23:39

From conception I had issues. I had a bad heart.
There was hope for me, yet when I was born I was dead, with a mangled and crippled body.
But I was revived.
I was given life.
I was given a new heart.
I was ridiculed by many of the people around me. Pitied by some. Encouraged by few. I had days of wishing to die in my crippled state, or even to make my state worse out of spite.
But throughout my life each crippled and disabled limb was made right and new. It was a long, slow process, but it was a journey of beauty.

Joy

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Mon, 11/23/2015 - 17:31

We take happiness for granted. It's like we think we deserve it. But we don't. Ultimately we deserve hell. Christ changed that by suffering the wrath of God in our place so that we can experience the joy of eternal life.
Happiness is temporal but joy is found in the eternal.
So we should be joyful...when? Only when we remember what lies ahead (in heaven)? Or how about when things are going our way? Rejoice in the Lord every-once-in-a-while? No. "Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, rejoice." (Phil. 4:4)

The Beginning of Eternity

Submitted by Wings of Eternity on Sat, 04/04/2015 - 21:56

The bells are tolling,
but I do not hear their sound.
I am caught up in something
so much more profound.

I see women weeping
with men of solemn face,
but I do not feel as they do,
wrapped in arms of grace.

A whispered silence falls,
like the heads of those that bow,
but oh, if they could only see
the rejoicing around me now!

They would hear a mighty chorus
and the dazzling colors see.
Then they too would rejoice,
for death is only the beginning of eternity.

Counted worthy

I hope y'all like this. I wouldn't exactly call this a fiction, because, even though if is not a real story, it is not a fantasy I guess I'm trying to say. So anyways, please critique! It's not that long so it doesn't take that long. I got the inspiration and wrote it in about ten minutes. Give me ideas though, please. If there's something that ought to be changed I will do it. (You can edit these after they're posted, right?) anyways, I hope you enjoy.

A Glimpse of Heaven

Author's Note: Hello all! Sorry for such a long hiatus; my life has been crazy! I'm finally a monthly writer! YAY! Congrats to Homeschoolgirl and Kassady for becoming monthlies too! This poem is dedicated to you both for my waaaay too long break from writing and your constant support of me here on AP! God Bless! - Wings of Eternity

A whisper of a breath,
My eyes beheld the gaze,
Eternity unbroken,
Unceasing songs of praise.

Infinity in a glance,
Enraptured in the call,
Arms outstretched in welcome,
Wingbeats break my fall.
