This Garden

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Sun, 04/21/2019 - 03:20

It’s peaceful out
And gentle wind
Whispers love into my soul
It’s quiet here
And rest I’ve found
Your sunshine careful in its glow
And standing here
I look around
I see my raindrops falling down
As mist rises up
To meet the rays
And lend its nurturing spirit there
So flowers bloom
And buds break forth
In graceful beauty all around
While clouds appear
And lend their shade
From overwhelming bursts of joy
And in this space
Of growth and peace

Behind The Clouds

Submitted by Libby on Wed, 01/18/2017 - 01:08

The day is bright and welcoming,
I don’t know how I can sleep in,
A new day, a new song to sing,
I laugh and watch the sun peep in.

Hurriedly I dress and fold
and look out on the clear new day,
Yesterday now seems so old,
Our earth has never looked so gay.

I rush out now the world to greet
The dewy grass like jewels and pearls,
New trials I’m prepared to meet,
As the clear blue dawn unfurls.

Spring Bike Ride

Submitted by Ariel on Mon, 03/09/2009 - 00:49

I sit looking sad,
Why should I be glad?
Spring is out there,
But I cannot share.

The bed is unmade,
Clothes left to fade.
The birds sing a tune,
But I clean my room.

Pull back the curtain,
I’ll be done, I’m certain.
The flowers are blooming
And I’m back to fuming

Why does this cleaning take so long?
Why does everything seem to do wrong?
The Spring outside,
Will peacefully reside.

Outside My Window

Submitted by Ariel on Mon, 02/09/2009 - 03:39

The rain drizzles down the window pane in front of my face; my breath makes a faint fog on the cold glass. Across the field is Mingus Mountain, normally a dark blue silhouette against the sky, now a rolling bank of misty grey clouds and falling rain. Another rivulet of water trickles past my eye, and I glance up at the sky.

Cold

Submitted by Hannah W. on Wed, 12/03/2008 - 02:38

The world is so cold,
so empty, so bare,
so bitter and gray
without sunny skies fair

But those skies have long gone,
they left along with you,
all the joy you brought to me
has now vanished too

The world is so cold,
like a stone, gone all numb
too dark to see where I'm going
or where I've come from

Where is my sunshine,
where is my light?
where is my heart?
when will my world be right?

October at Home

Submitted by Aisling on Thu, 11/06/2008 - 01:18

the leaves have caught the sun
and hold it boldly, bravely
and give it, all unwavering
even when it’s gone

the leaves have caught the light
they guard it like a secret
they treasure and they keep it
even through the night

the leaves have caught the glow
and mirroring each other
they paint the whole world over
refuse to let it go

the leaves have caught the sun
and play it ‘neath the blue sky
right back into the bright eye
of the one they caught it from
