Most people would correlate the word “rebellious” with teenagers. All parents have a reasonable fear of the time when their cute little tykes will become big, rebellious teens. Today’s teenagers resent authority of any kind, especially that of their parents, and that explains the sole reason for their “rebelliousness.” Jesus says, “Honor thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long in the land which Jehovah thy God giveth thee” (Exodus 20:12 ASV). This verse banishes any of the justification that teenage rebellion has to occur. God expects us to honor our parents whether we agree with them or not. That means we have to rebel against something quite different than authority. We have to rebel against resentful attitudes toward our parent’s authority, we have to rebel against what the world tells us we should naturally express, and we have to rebel against acting rebellious at all times.

Thanks!
Hey Andrea! Are you the same one that is in Rhetoric 1? I also started on here because of Potter's School : )
Thanks for your comment...this was actually one of my assignments for PS that I thought worthy enough of other's reading.

Sorry, I'm not the same one.
Sorry, I'm not the same one. I'm taking Shakespeare and French. Next semester I'm going to take 19th Century Lit. I actually found out about this place from my brother's teacher, Mrs. T. It's great fun listening in on his class. I get to listen to one of my favorite teachers, and not have to do the homework! :)
Good!
Sounds like the Rebelution... you aren't on there, by any chance?
Good points, though, and well written!
Rebelution
Kyleigh,
Yeah I was part of the rebelution (a website/forum I recommend to everyone interested in God and living differently...www.therebelution.com)
I got eliminated recently when they changed the rules about admission. You have to write an essay and I forgot to. : ) So yeah, I was and I really loved it.

Amen Sister!
Sometimes it's hard to honor Mom and Dad, but it's definately the right thing to do. Our society is big on the whole Rebel-Without-A-Cause thing right now, but I always thought that was kind of pointless. It's far better to rebel for a reason, and I think you have described a pretty good one here. You make honoring one's parents and not acting rebellious sound like something cool. Good job!
