Epilogue – What Happened After
When they got home, it never returned normal, there was always that strange feeling of knowing they had been in another world, and the many stories that were told often. At the first, their mother had thought that they were playing a prank on her, but the pictures and memoirs were proof, besides the bags of gold. Their father, however, never openly admitted that he believed them. But when he died, the two daughters read his journal, and came to the place where he talked about their strange disappearence. In his journal, he admitted that he believed every word because,
“strange and outlandish things can happen” as he wrote.
The two girls never forgot their journey in another world, and told it to their children sometimes at night. Their husbands thought they had gone mad when they first told them, but of course,
as Kya said in her journal,
“it is for them to wonder, and us to know.”
Kya and Jess did not end up going to Yale, instead they went to a local college.
Kya became a nurse and Jess became a writer, this book being the result of her writing career.
Kya and Jess stayed as close as sisters all the days of their life, and Kya's children were Jess' nieces and nephews, and likewise with Jess. Some say that perhaps Kya went back to that world to live there, on her death bed, and instead of dying, lived forever. But no one really knows, because when Kya was on her deathbed, all her relatives and kinsman had died; her land lady came to see how she was doing, and Kya was nowhere to be seen. And as far as everyone else knows, Jess never went to that world again.
The pictures that were taken on the day of their departure were always treasured by Kya and Jess. And years and years later, became artifacts in the museum of strange history, along with the other memoirs that were still intact.
