Sorry it's taken me so awful long to post this chapter, but I've been quite busy lately >.<
Chapter Eleven, Meeting an American

I was awoken by Kya shaking me gently. I had hardly gotten any sleep to speak of last night, since the ground was an old, breaking ground that was uncomfortable to sleep on.
“It is time to wake up, Jess. We need to get to the tree as soon as possible, since I would like to go home.” I sat up and rubbed my eyes.
“Oh, alright, whatever.” I got up and rolled my bedding up and tied it; placing it on my back with my other travelling necessaties.
“How did you sleep, Jess?” Kya asked, I rolled my eyes.
“Terrible, I could hardly sleep last night.”
“Well, I am sorry that you could not sleep well, but I did!” Kya winked.
We were soon ready to leave, and then we left, across the hill, then down. When we reached the bottom, Kya opened her sack and pulled her cellphone out.
“Lemme see...” she pressed a few buttons and then,
“Ah yes. Here we go.” She showed me her screen, on it, she had pulled up a compass.
“Nice thinking, Ky! Did you get a connection, or was it just an app you had?” I asked her.
“I have a connection, but it was an app.”
The compass pointed to the west, and west we did go. About an hour later, we heard a whistling sound; Kya nudged me with her elbow,
“What's that noise?” she asked me, and I shrugged my shoulders since I did not know either. The whistling grew louder as we continued walking. Then, to our right, we saw a small cave and inside was a person bent over a fire, whistling.
“Oh.” I said, now knowing what the whistling was. I made a big X in the snow, so I could get back on track after leaving the path.
“Come on Kya, let's go say hello.” But Kya was not so sure,
“What if it is another witch?”
“Ha. Yeah right..come on.” Kya reluctantly followed me, and soon we had gotten close to the person, a girl. But she was not hooded, so I feared nothing. I then noticed that she was not wearing unordinary clothes, but American clothes! I was hoping that she was an American, too. Then she looked up.
“Hello! Can I help you?” She asked, and she had an American accent!
“Hi! I'm Jess and this is my friend Kya. We were headed west, but I wanted to say hello.”
I said, and then she nodded her head.
“Okay. Let me guess, you two are from America? And not this world? I can tell from your clothes and accent.” She stated, sounding very sure of herself.
“Yes! We are! Are you? We are on a quest so that we can get back to America.” Kya said.
“Yes, I am. And why in the name of the king would you want to leave this beautiful land?” She asked, looking shocked.
“Because we have a home we want to go back to.” I stated, annoyed that she would ask such a senseless question.
“Oh. Well, I mean to stay here all my life. And by the way, my name is Alice. Where are you headed anyways?” I was not about to tell her where I was headed.
“Where we are headed is our business, but how did you get to Tallifarth anyways? We got here by two magic rings, sent by the Magician of Iglis, Renidren.” I said.
“Oh, well, I went to bed one night, and then I awoke in Lairn. I then travelled to Tallifarth, and I've been to many other lands in this world since. And by the way, you are not in Tallifarth anymore, you are in the land of the Magicals, or Iglis. Named so because of all the fairy's, witches and Magicians and such.”
“So you have been here a long time then? I mean, you know so much about this world.”
“Ten years, I was thirteen when I got here.”
We were finally in a long conversation, and time was passing quickly. Apparently, Kya and I had forgotten that we were supposed to not be wasting time. About an hour and a half later, I looked up to see the sky darkening quickly. I remembered what the Magician had said about the good weather, and now I could tell that a snow storm was brewing. The weather was turning foul.
“Kya, we really need to get going, we forgot all about our quest. How stupid of us. I rarely forget anything..” Kya raised an eyebrow,
“Well, I did not forget, but I wanted to talk to Alice for a little while. And we can't possibly go out when we can see that a terrible storm is going to come on us. We must stay the night.”
But I was a hard head when it came to getting my way,
“Kya, I am leaving now. And if you wish to get back to America you will do the same.” Kya did not answer and just continued sitting by the fire. I just turned around and began walking back to the path. My X was still there,
“Good thing I got here before it started snowing!” I pulled out my cellphone and turned my compass app on, and I began heading west; hopefully towards the Great Iglis Tree.

Nice job on this one, Sarah! I liked how you've put the Alice in there; does she provide useful info at one point in the story? I think that would be a good idea; or make her tie in somehow with the rest of the story. Love how she said she was going to stay there for the rest of her life. You could do a conflict like how why she wants to stay in Iglis. Just saying some ideas.
Great job! :)
