Impermanence

Submitted by Raine on Wed, 11/26/2014 - 19:52

Because one moment was not enough
to keep the memory from fading

and the last pieces of this day
slipped from the sky into the
darkening shades of night

and if there was a reason for anything
to blossom it was because
it was the first time and

if there was anything left to
believe in it was the light
left behind in the last star

disappearing as the light
steals over the horizon

and only these hands remain,
left open, as every other door closes

and if you stopped loving
someone they would need to
understand it was only
because nothing...

nothing has permanence
there is only impermanence
that is sure and the weight
of your smile is one I will
carry out of this moment
to the next

there is movement in this life
that is inexplicably grand

and when light flickers
over the horizon it begins
to blaze a trail of
incredible discovery
that will last well past
the darkness.

Still rather rough...written in a blaze of thought while sitting in a bus...

This is lovely and not rough whatsoever. This part was my favorite:

if there was anything left to
believe in it was the light
left behind in the last star
