A Chill Wet Day in September

Submitted by Raine on Thu, 09/16/2010 - 18:06

Wet air clings to my coat,

Puddles ripple around my feet

As water poors into the gutter grates

Clouds of air puff from mouths

As people hurry into warm homes

and waiting cars.

The bright blue door in the brick

House on the corner looks

distant, as the misty air swirls.

The streets are bare and quiet

the chill in the air signifying

the beginning of work and study.

The weeping birch is crying,

droplets falling on my head

as I pass underneath

On this chill september day,

I am alone outdoors

waiting for inspiration

Really nice imagery. Lucky you, for it to be chill there at all. Where I am it's still 90 degrees during the day!!!

I love this. ... but it does very much make me, like Erin, miss that kind of weather. We never get cold grey days, but those were always some of my favorite.
