Christmas Eve

It has come again

That special time of year

When all your friends and family

Have come to spread some cheer

All is very busy

With never a boring moment

All are in high spirits

Preparing for the feast

Mother is in the kitchen

Baking lots of goodies

The smell of gingerbread and cocoa

Whirl throughout the house

The boys trudge out to play

Rapped up like Eskimos

They'll have a snowball fight

And glide upon the ice

Then we hear a knock

And open up the door

And see there on our doorstep

A row of carolers

The girls are dressing the mantle

All in their Christmas clothes

Some garland here some holly there

The mantle now is done

The boys come in all wet and cold

Their nose and cheeks are red

Mother brings some cocoa and cookies

And motions for them to sit

Now it's time to hang our stockings

Over the fireplace

And set the cookies out for Santa

Freshly made today

We'll now sit 'round the fire

And listen to our father

Tell us all the story

Of the very first Christmas Eve

A nice feeling passes through

As all think of the night

The night a very long time ago

When our Dear Lord, Christ was born
