How To Bathe a Small Dog

If you have a bathtub with a detachable spray nozzle, I think you will find it quite easy to wash a small dog by following my instructions. Begin by calling your dog’s name (I will refer to your dog as “he” with no offense to female dogs, of course), and grab his collar in case he attempts to escape his bath. Usually I find it convenient to bathe my dog in our master bedroom because I can let him run around in the bedroom after the bath. Next push him into the bathroom making sure to close the door behind you. Then turn on the water, and plunk him in the tub. While holding him down with one hand, quickly turn on the spray nozzle of the shower with the other hand. After you have completed these steps, the real work begins. Water down your pet efficiently by raising him on his hind legs and spraying his stomach. Once he is thoroughly wet, rub shampoo over every ounce of his body. Finally comes the most trying part. Still forcing your pet to stand up, spray his stomach down, and then proceed to rinse off the rest of his body. Previous to drying off your dog, wait for him to shake off before you allow him to jump out of the bathtub. Letting him jump out, make sure to rub him down with the towel. Allow your pet out of the bathroom and the bedroom, and watch him streak off like a lightning bolt, before running after him to chase him around. When your pet feels all worn out, wrap him up in a towel and tell someone else to dry him off with the blow drier because, in all justice, your part seems over.
