Till Sun and Moon Cease to Exist

Submitted by Kassady on Mon, 05/16/2016 - 06:17

She smiles like she's fueled by sunbeams,
Like every hope of happiness
Came into fruition.

I beam at her approvingly,
My memories like curly cues
Hanging off her shoulders,
Circling her face.

She embodies bright colors as she struts,
Orange laced confidence in every step
as she takes charge with a wave of her hands,
And I still argue against the pigmentation of Crimson.

I shake my head at the possibilities
Hanging on weighted sandcastle clouds,
But they seem not to drown me just yet
And she shakes her head at me,
Like she expected nothing different.

She dances like she's fueled by moonshine,
Not the kind that ferments,
The kind no one else can grasp but her,
Kicking her heals up like a pedigree mare.

I sing off cord but still can't help
The rolling of my tongue over memory tainted lyrics,
The variety that stick to the insides of your vertebra.

She grins and bundles our friendship in a look,
A few words expressed in gushing amounts,
Like profanity out of a McCarthy mouth,
Too sweet and silly to take anything but pleasure away from.

I watch her with another I hold dear,
Jealousy and fear so far from my emotion shackled consciousness,
And I beam like I am the moon that shines
Upon the glowing party that lays before me,
Oh how I am pleased!

She loves like she is fueled by the embers
That sizzle still in the rain that's ended our conversations,
Warm and consistently fighting anything
That could possibly put it out.

I love her like maybe we were twins separated at birth,
How could I be lucky enough to I find her again,
A lap fallen into so fatefully?

She smiles like she's fueled by sunbeams,
Like every hope of happiness
Came into fruition
And ended in us being together till sun and moon cease to exist.

Please critique!!!! Love ya BFF, this ones for you... Hopefully it's good and does you justice! Also I might repost this one in a coming "on a theme of friendship" if I put together enough new poetry for that.

Oh my goooooooodness. This is so, so SO sweet! I got to your note at the end and my whole face wrinkled up because I was like: "AWWWWWWW!!!" And on top of that (and I SWEAR I am not just saying this because of the subject matter which...by the way...soooo nice...) this is INCREDIBLY GOOD. Like, oh-my-gosh-that-was-a-brilliant-line good. I was thinking that as I read through it the first time. Your word choice is on point here! It's seriously exceptional!

And I might frame this and put it on my wall! ;) Because it's so sweet, and how did I come to deserve a friend like you?!? Ohhh, and the first and last stanzas are my absolute favorite...but then there are so many others that are just brilliant and have so much ingenuity!

"My memories like curly cues
Hanging off her shoulders,
Circling her face."

"That sizzle still in the rain that's ended our conversations,"

"Like profanity out of a McCarthy mouth," <--- FAVE.

Um, and this whole stanza. Simile is so unexpected but it fits so well!

"She dances like she's fueled by moonshine,
Not the kind that ferments,
The kind no one else can grasp but her,
Kicking her heals up like a pedigree mare."

Basically I love this whole thing. Basically it's going on my wall. Basically I love you! <3 Basically this might have to be our collab piece if you don't care and you'll find an answering one in your inbox! (because I can't post it yet...lol...)

I am so relieved to know you like this so much!!!! *sigh and wipes sweat from brow*!!! Yay, success!!!!
Please, please, please write a collaboration, I would love that! And don't feel like it has to be about me, it would be awesome for you to continue the story of describing yourself... Almost like your explaining your view of your happiness! Haha!!!
Awww, your comment is so lovely!!!! Thank you so much! Love ya Roomie!!!!

Are you two roommates?? I met one of my best friends through apricotpie (two airplane visits to meet her!)...
This was sooo wonderful and filled me with such feelings of love and warmth. What a beautiful ode to a gorgeous friendship. It made me want to take snippets out of it and send it to friends!! <3 I especially loved the "lap" line.

I hope Kass doesn't mind me answering...lol...she can add to it of course! haha! But we're going to be roommates--hopefully--by some crazy wonderful twist of fate (never planned to go to the college we ended up at, much less the same one). We actually met prior to AP, at least for me, in-person. Kass gave me the link for the site, and the rest is history! So without her I never would have discovered this, which feels strange on so many levels!

That's wonderful about your friend! So many connections have been made through this site; it's incredible! I'm so happy to be a part of it!

Sarah Bethany- yay, oh my goodness that's a fabulous compliment, you wanting to send snippets to friends! I love it! Thank you and you a very welcome to btw.
Yes, what Homey said! Haha, we've been friends for 6 years now and I could not ask for a better roommate and just partner in crime for life, haha! <3 it's crazy to think how long we've both been writing for AP and how so many others have been here longer.... I forget, haven't been here longer than us Sarah Bethany?
