[this has been redacted for possible publication. I will repost if it doesn't get into the college lit mag.]
Basically the same thing as the last poem I posted. The poetry section of my writing class is complete! We are onto fiction. My professor (VERY VERY SURPRISINGLY) had little critique for my poems and thinks that I can get them published in the campus literary magazine. So, that's exciting. Hope y'all enjoy this!

Ooooohh, PUBLISHED? DID
Ooooohh, PUBLISHED? DID SOMEONE SAY PUBLISHED?
"I have never
missed someone while
they were standing
right in front of me"
It hurts, doesn't it? When they're standing RIGHT in front of you?
I reckon it hurts more than missing them when they're not away, because it's not real, right there in front of you. Yeah. It hurts, I know that hurt.
"as you walk down the driveway
into your new life
without me"
That stung me. I've felt that, oh yes.
Really connected with this poem :) I really liked it.
Looking forward to fiction ;)

AH AH AH AHH
Wait, didn't I have this reaction before?? -- I literally was saying "AH!" in my head whilst reading the first stanza. Black shirt, ash tree, everything. Erin, GORGEOUS! How do you write like this? You paint a picture in my head with such searing images. Thank you!! And I definitely know what it's like to miss someone right in front of me. I'm leaving friends behind in a few days, for who knows how long, so I may have my own melancholic poetry to churn out as well soon. ;)
Oooh, on at the same time as
Oooh, on at the same time as you, Sarah! ;)

Maddi, I think that's because you & I are closer to each other's time zones in the world....maybe?? :D (am in Europe)
It must be...not sure haha!

And Erin, of course I remember Thursdays! I'd love to read more of that....the plot was interesting :)

Wow Erin...this poem is so
Wow Erin...this poem is so vivid and you packed meaning into every word. I AM SO HAPPY for you that you are doing so well in college! It must be so much fun to write poetry for homework. And what your professor said?? you should really publish them in the magazine. :)

Thanks, everyone! I
Thanks, everyone! I appreciate the influx of comments! My professor is wonderful and college has been an experience, for sure. I will be submitting all of the poems I wrote for the class to the literary magazine on campus. Actually, for the fiction portion of the class, I asked my professor if I could use the novella I've been working on (I have part of it posted on here...not sure if anyone remembers Thursdays?). I will certainly post the second half once it's completed!
