need to breathe

I. when you tasted like honey

Those were the days
Way back when you used to smell like mowed grass
And you used to taste like honey
When we liked to see silent films in the theater
And you liked to hold my hand
When I tried to straighten my hair, you told me
“Darling, don’t change a thing”
Darling, I don’t know what happened
I don’t know what I did
It seemed like overnight, you changed
And now you smell like booze
And when we kiss you taste like ashes
If I leave my hair curly
You tell me it looks better straight
We don’t hold hands anymore
We don’t do anything anymore
If I could have you back, I would
I just need an explanation
Why do beautiful people change
And what can I do to stop it?

II. when I need to stop

Life feels like it’s passing too fast
Like there’s nothing I can do to slow it down
I want to breathe, I want to feel
But I’m frozen under the power of
Days
Weeks
Months
Years
The clock keeps ticking, there’s always another place to be
I wonder what would happen if I just stopped
If I locked myself away and refused to move
Would the clock still
Tick
Tick
Tick
Or would it let me free?

I enjoyed reading II - it's really true.

Bursts of inspiration are awesome--I love these two because of their reality.
The first one was nice--love how you portrayed everything! But the second was just pure reality. Great job. :)

Thanks :) I'm glad you liked them! The second one has most definitely been my life as of late, so I'm happy that you were able to relate.

Your images are very vivid, especially in I.
