Letter from the Editor, December 2010

Submitted by James on Mon, 12/20/2010 - 16:56

Dear Homeschooling Friends,

First of all, I want to thank you all for your encouragement and support – and thank you for contributing to Apricotpie’s costs. Apricotpie is now well-funded for the year 2011.

Secondly, I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas in this letter, since the next one I write will be in January. If any of you have any thoughts on Christmas, please turn them into writing and post them this month! Poems, essays, fiction/stories…

It does seem strange that the year 2010 is ending now. It passed by quickly! I’ve got a lot of ideas bouncing around in my head for Apricotpie as we enter the year 2011, and I was hoping to tell you some of them in this letter. However, being the perfectionist that I am, I want to relate them to you in an ordered, intelligent way. Attempting to do so has delayed the publishing of this letter, which I had intended to post on December 1st. So, I have decided to post this letter to you anyway, gather my thoughts and write them down in the January letter. (It is my intention to write a letter from the editor each month.)

Also, on a quick note (this doesn’t apply if you’re a monthly writer), I and several of the monthlies look through and publish the writings that you have submitted for review. However, the website software doesn’t yet have the ability to produce a list of ONLY writings that are submitted for review. Instead, it generates a list of unpublished writings, which lumps the “submitted-for-reviews” with all of the “drafts” that are still being worked on by their authors. While learning the ropes, I accidently published a couple of drafts that the authors didn’t want published yet, and realized my mistake later (oops… my apologies). So don’t worry, that shouldn’t be happening any more! Also, if you have submitted something and it’s not getting published, double-check that its workflow status is “submit for review” and not “draft.” (If that’s not the problem, don’t hesitate to contact me and I’ll see if I can fix the problem.)

Once again, Merry Christmas!

James

Can't wait to see what the ideas are!  Merry Christmas to you too, and to everyone else here.

Yay! I like the idea of a letter a month. I can't wait to see what you have in store. Merry CHRISTmas, James!

I'm even more excited for January now!

I do have some thoughts on Christmas... though I don't think they're the type you're looking for. They'll be on my blog after Christmas...

Merry Christmas, all! And James, thanks so much for everything you've done for our dear AP.

Merry Christmas, James! Thank you for all of your hard work on this website. And Merry Christmas also to all of the APers!

Hi James,

One quick question:

I sent you a email just today, asking about being a monthly writter, but.... does that mean I will have the respondsiblity of publishing other people's writting? I don't think I could do that, and if so, I do not want to be a monthly writter any more ;). But if not (and I notice that you say "several of the monthlies") and if you just do that kind of thing with a couple of your hand picked monthlies, then I would still like to be a monthly.

Thank you,

Write on!

James, Along the same lines as Kassady, I have to mention that my email service is not currently working right. So I'm sorry if you replied to my message and I just havent gotten it. I changed my contact email though, so I should be able to get any messages.

Hello?

Sorry to be a nuisance, but I do remember that you said that you were going to tell us your ideas for this year in a post? Are you still working on it? Or have you been to busy? If you have then thats understandable! Sorry for pestering!

I've just been on the edge of my seat waiting for it!

And you haven't answered my question yet! And, I don't think you have answered to my email about being a monthly writter, should I send another email? Did you be chance miss my email?

Sorry! Now I must sound like a child, persistantly asking about candy.

Write on!

Waiting...
