"Just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. At the judgment, the queen of the south will arise with the men of this generation and she will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and there is something greater than Solomon here. At the judgment the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, for at the preaching of Jonah, they repented, and there is something greater than Jonah here." ~ Luke 11:30-32
GREATER
O men, look up and see
don't continue in blindness
how loud do I have to sing
before you will turn and hear me?
*Behold, your Salvation
but you turn to meet your death
Behold, your Wisdom
but you embrace your folly instead
Yet what can I do to save you
who have stubbornly rejected your head
when you refused Something in your midst
that was greater than Jonah
Children still though you have strayed
please don't turn deaf to my cry
He'll still return some day
and we must be ready- at least try
*to Behold, your Redeemer
but you still accept the curse
Behold, your Leader
but you'd rather claim your own worth
but what can I do to help you?
I who am lowly of birth
for you refused Something in your midst
that was greater than Solomon
bridge:
He came, He saw, He loved you
We came, we saw and what did we do?
we left Him there to die on a tree...
but He lives! and He's calling, for He would set us free
will you turn from Him again?
or this time will you let Him be your friend?
O Church, taste and know
the One Who has lavished upon you
every grace that He could bestow
now stands, offering Himself to you
*Behold, your Lover
please don't turn a deaf ear
Behold, your Master
don't shrink from a service so dear
but how, O! how can I convince you?
I who am human, down here
when you refused Him in your midst
that was greater than anyone
Who shall be, Is, and Was
He who is God's only Son
