The Call To Serve My Love

I take the step
to answer yes
I give my all
I give myself
I offer
my prayer of hope
I place it all upon
your throne

and I am on my knees
I'm yearning and praying
with self sacrifice
tears of sorrow on my face
a smile of joy cannot erase
I die
proving life

a covering
across my chest
a servants garb
does not impress
mirroring humility
strings holding
my memory
forever

and I am on my knees
I'm breaking and praying
with self sacrifice
tears of sorrow on my face
a smile of joy cannot erase
I die
proving life

bricks of pain
burdens
of fear and shame
do not offend
my yoke is full
my soul is pressed
and yet I'm singing
blessed

and I am on my knees
I'm aching and praying
with self sacrifice
tears of sorrow on my face
a smile of joy cannot erase
I die
proving life

the dish that won't clean
the heart that won't mend
the tying of string
the will that won't bend
the image of the cross
the darkness and pain
the candle light
the one unchanged
the Mother Mary our purest light
the pressure to fight
the angels surround
the little one found
the burns and the marks
the one in the dark
the tables and chairs
the one unaware
the aching knees
the one who received

and I am on my knees
I'm aching and praying
with self sacrifice
tears of sorrow on my face
a smile of joy cannot erase
I die
proving life

wounded
torn
I have my bruises
my back is sore
my heart is beating
burning with Your love
i've given all
become undone
my acts fulfilled the battle won
the joy in sorrow
the light in pain
the act of mercy
backtracking shame

and now i can see
Your hands
Your feet
are bleeding
for me
everything
I hold
and need
lifted up to You
my King

The Holy Spirit is the quiet guest of our soul." -St. Augustine

This remind me (I know this is going to sound stupid) but it's sort of like listening to the harp play: it's strong and beautiful and delicate all at the same time.
