Chapter the Twelfth

Everything was passing by in a blur. Before Iraella could even react her hands were tied tightly behind her back and her supplies were taken away. That bag carried everything! Her grandmother’s cloak, her map, her food, her dagger, everything.
Lakker pulled the rope tighter, and Iraella had a feeling it was just to make her wince. Then it hit her.
Iraella bowed her head and smiled to herself, wondering why she had not thought of this twenty minutes ago. “You fools! My father will be infuriated,” she shouted, raising her head.
All of the pirates laughed. “So your daddy’s to come and save you, m’ dear?” teased one scrawny little man. Iraella smirked at him. “Yes, that is most certainly right. He is the king of all pirates, after all,” she said.
Only that man laughed. “King? I knew not that Zylim had a daughter,” Myzon said suspiciously. Iraella laughed. It was working. “But of course! Only the ignorant do not know of me!” Myzon continued to eye her cautiously. “What ‘tis your name, child?” he asked her.
Iraella paused shortly. Ira would be to close to her real name, and Ella was much to plain for a pirate princess. “Allae, after the great isle off the coast of Kell,” she said.
Myzon nodded. “Impressive, believable. Lakker, untie the ropes. Hold her arm though,” he added. “That’s right, untie them. If you bring me where I want to go, I might just not mention this to my father,” Iraella said. This was quite enjoyable. She heard Lakker growl under his breath and decided to be quiet.
“Why didn’t you ask to come on ship, Princess?” inquired Lakker. His voice was casual, but Iraella could see the malice in his seeing eye. “Of course I asked!” she snapped. Then, thinking quickly, she pointed to a tall, big bellied man towards the middle of the herd of pirates. “That man didn’t allow me in, and I need to get somewhere. So, I did as my father would have told me to do. I snuck on the ship,” she said.
Lakker laughed. “I know King Zylim, and despite being master of the seas, he never sneaks onto ships. He only ambushes.”
Iraella looked away. She hadn’t even known there was an actual king in the first place! When she looked up, Myzon had his arms crossed and his face was hard. “Tie Miss Allae’s hands back together, Lakker. She’s off,” he ordered.
Iraella tried to bolt, but then remembered that Lakker still gripped her wrist. “Let go!” she screamed out of impulse. The crew laughed at her struggle. Lakker reached out and grabbed her other hand and forced them together. The scrawny man who spoke out before handed Lakker the rough rope. As he bound Iraella’s hands together, Iraella couldn’t help but think about what a rash, foolish idea it was for her to go out on her own. Once her hands were together and Lakker was holding her arm, Iraella resorted to kicking, which resulted in falling. Lakker jerked her back up, making Iraella cry out from the pain in her shoulder.
All the crew laughed and jeered as Lakker picked her up as if she weighed nothing. Iraella cried out again, looking to the water below her. Lakker shook with laughter under her right before he threw her. Iraella screamed and forgot to take a breath before hitting the water. She tried to struggle her way up, but her hands were tied and the water was cold.
She was sinking.
