GAME ONE
It all started when I signed up for the sixth-grade girl's basketball team. I thought that this sport would be fun and easy. Well I found out that it is really fun, but not easy at all. Well here we are at our first game. I was all ready. All right, its time to get on the floor. We say a prayer before. Here goes the jump ball; the other team got the ball we're all running really hard. Oh no not, good we're losing and it's the second quarter. We have to do better. Everyone's fouling a lot. We're all confused hot and tired, and want water. Finally it's a time-out by my dad, the coach. Phew! A rest. Half time is over now. And we're still losing. Now fourth quarter. We're on offense; there I stand ready for the ball. Waiting, wondering, is she going to pass it to me, or my teammate? She's passes it to me I get trapped with nowhere to pass the ball. Phew, just in time one of my teammates has come to help me. I pass her back the ball, she shoots, its out, off the rim. That's it; th
e games done, we lost. Twelve to twenty-one. Bad score. My mom, and everyone in the crowd are saying that it was a good first game.
GAME TWO
Now that we've played a game before we know what to expect. We only have seven people on our team. Its fun when you get a rest on the bench. We're loosing this one too. We get plenty of open shots we're just not getting our shots in. I barely ever get the ball, and when I do somebody's all ways covering me so I can't shoot. Our defense isn't doing very good this game. They're winning. Its half-time, another rest. I get the ball. I shoot. I say to myself in a whisper "oh please, oh please go in." It worked its in. Yeah! Nine to nine, it's a tie. Fourth quarter, they have the ball. They shoot. It's in. Three seconds left in the game. Coach calls time out. Time's up, the game ends. They say that the other team won. Well there goes another one. Nine to eleven.
GAME THREE
Well this one was just another game lost. Eight to twelve.
GAME FOUR
Well this game just brought us from bad to worse. First our best player fouled out. Then our second best player got an asthma attack and couldn't breath. Now we lost this one too. Eighteen to eleven. Now we lost all four games.
GAME FIVE
Bad news, two of our players can't come. We just got me some knee pads, because I've been skinning my knees. The first play I get, I am pushed off my feet and slammed down on my side. My elbow is skinned. The ball is loose. I can't get up, it hurts too bad. The ball is rolling around on the ground. I want to get it but I can't take a step. All I can do is stand there in pain. I go to the bench trying to hold off the tears. But they come anyway. I have to go back in I don't want to, but we will loose again if I don't. I go back in. We loose again anyway. Eight to twelve.
GAME SIX
Ok here we are again. They're a lot bigger than us. I'm nervous. In my head I say to myself: "we can do this."
We say a prayer together. Now we're on the floor again. We got the jump ball, yeah! We're running as hard as we can. One of my teammates gets the ball, she shoots, and it's in! Half-time's over now and we're winning. One of my teammates is plowed over and hurt badly. She can't play. Now I have to guard the ball. They're so fast. They keep pushing me, but the referees don't see. Now another one of my teammates is out-they say she fouled five times. Now we will probably loose again. But we might win. Suddenly I get a new burst of energy. But it doesn't last for long. Now our ball-handler gets fouled out. She says she didn't touch the girl. But, the referees say she did. Only four players left to use. There's only a little time left on the clock. We can do it. The girl defending me is practically over me, I can't pass the ball anywhere. I whip it over my head. The time runs out. We won!!!! I can't believe it. I feel a tear of joy come down my cheek. Yes this is the day that I've
been waiting for!
