Moon Beauty, by Rachel P

I gaze at the moon and see myself reflected there in her silver mirror face,
I Glimpse her soul, an ocean of memory engulfing past, present, and future,
I see her alone, standing there, watching over the sleeping world, a gentle mother watching over her little ones.

In her pale face I see myself, in her detachment from all else,
In her place surrounded by stars and sky,
Yet so alone in her empty world of night.

She stands alone and marks the way, from dusk to dawn,
She leads the pace of time,
With a gentle hand, she conducts the symphony of night.

In her place alone, forgotten,
I see a hint of myself,
She survives on her own and leads the march 'til morning light.

Yet I know that to do what she does, night by night, I could not,
In her bravery and beauty I see something I could never be,
-Alone
