I'm in the Mood to Experiment

I'm in the mood to experiment.

Uh-oh--right as I'm making my morning tea, too.

I shouldn't, I know, but yes, here it comes:

that feeling, that urge, that I just can't resist;

that enticing little voice that says "Just try it!"

The teapot shrieks and I'm helpless to fight it.

Here I go, once again, to "try it!"

So out comes the teacup from China;

in goes the teabag, steeping it strong;

in goes a good dash of nutmeg,

 and two big drops of lemon extract;

Oh dear! it hasn't let up, that feeling,

and in goes the ginger and a spoonful of honey.

Stir it all up and it smells... experimental.

So stir it again, close your eyes, take a sip--

Oh my.

My experiment failed, I walk to the sink,

throw the 'tea' down the drain and the cup in the dishwater.

The kettle's still hot, so out comes the mug,

yes, a mug this time, with wild mustangs across it,

in goes one more teabag and boiling water.

Steep to perfection, add sugar and cream,

and a bit of vanilla for flavor.

Aah...

Perfect, just as I like it, just as I drink it--

every morning.

You'd think I would learn my lesson eventually:

I like it this way, so why try to change it?

But alas, I know that answer too well:

I'm just not the one to let things be.

Is 'well enough' well enough, really?

How can I know if I leave it alone?

So failures and all, it's a matter of time

'til the urge strikes again, and I'm once again

in the mood for a little experiment...

It's a good thing you experimented with tea.  If you had done it with coffee, the result could have been lethal...

Ick. That sounds about as bad as the time Justin put lemon AND vanilla flavoring into the pizza crust...yeah, I don't turn him loose in the kitchen very often. ;0)

this is really good how you kept it flowing and it didn't sound chopy at all. Very good!

Just as long as I experiment once, I feel as if the routine isn't so routine at all. :)
