Echoes and Shadows

The snow shines so coldly,
The ice smiles so boldly,
The desolate earth cannot sing.

The trees breathe soft whispers
Of mem'ries of slivers
Of sunlight to perk up their wings.

Birds ruffle and sigh,
How they wish they could fly
Undisturbed by the icy cold sting.

I wait in my home
And I stay all alone
'Till away I shall fly to the spring.

I think of soft sunlight
That fades into moonlight
Creating a cool ev'ning breeze.

Recalling rills rippling,
Rememb'ring red roses,
No more reminisce I with ease.

The wind blows away
All thoughts save of today.
What if all of my memories freeze?

Now frantic, come hither
Let not all hope whither,
For hope hides herself in the trees.

When wings I am granted,
Keys I will be handed
To revisit glamorous glades.

To fight with a passion
And find the location
Where spring overflowing cascades.

For when I am home
I am then free to roam,
And all nature the truth serenades.

Yet snow shines so coldly,
Now ice smiles so boldly,
The earth in its grimness charades.
