Perfection's Lie

Submitted by Mairead on Tue, 07/20/2010 - 14:30

I've heard of the perfect prince
why is it that he doesn't exist?
perhaps it is because I would miss
those living in realness

if perfection was everyday
than I would probably walk away
from the poorest of the poor
I'd close that opened door

if holiness held no meaning
than what would change my mind
from living for myself instead of Christ
just reading feelings?

if love was just a word
then what difference would it make
if it was give and take
and un-armored

if grace held no price
then what would supply?
I would have to suffice
a do or die

sometimes
perfection tells a lie
and it shows me false hints
about the perfect prince

(perfect; literally meaning flawless, without fault)
