Only thirteen--how?
How could her lack of grace
keep her from recognizing Your face?
Pain and shame, with no one to clear the blame.
This fallen little girl has seen the world
now she's hates her very name.
So much for love and respect on earth,
shattered and torn by a broken life,
calling out unconsciously for new birth,
wanting to see the meaning of paradise.
Only eighteen--why?
Why in his strife with noise
was he able to block out Your voice?
Worry and tears, no way out of fear.
This growing boy has tasted sin
and now he can't see what's real
So much for truth and beauty on earth,
shattered and torn by a broken life,
calling out unconsciously for new birth,
wanting to see the meaning of paradise.
Only forty-four--when?
When did this grow too large
for him to hold and miss Your heart?
Denial and doubt, grasping for naught.
This wounded man has built a shell
and his mind and soul are hard and taut.
So much for strength and will on earth,
shattered torn by a broken life,
calling out unconsciously for new birth,
wanting to see the meaning of paradise.
Only eighty-eight--where?
Where did she find assistance
to hide the truth of Your forgiveness?
Abandoned and alone, a ghastly circumstance.
This poor woman has closed the door
and her eyes have shut out the hope of repentance.
So much for grace and rest on earth,
shattered and torn by a broken life,
calling out unconsciously for new birth,
wanting to see the meaning of paradise.
Where have we come from world? Where do we land?
Where are we going? Do you understand?
Why do we ignore Him? Why do we fail?
We forget transfiguration, Bethleham.
We forget that He came and went.
We forget that He is waiting for us
with love and forgiveness.
We forget Calvery, what He did
died a cruel death, rose, and now lives.
Oh, America, the only way to redeem
is to go through His wounds that are bloody but sheen.
Oh, World, if you only knew how you are wrong
and that you should long to live a life searching for His aching heart.
