The Unveiling of Amelia Rose

Hello!
I just stared reading "Daddy-Long-Legs" and the language they use is fantastic. That kind of inspired this poem. It may be more than one part, I don't know. I'd love to know your thoughts.
Thanks,
Homey :-)

The Unveiling of Amelia Rose

I must say I feel very lucky that-
Oh, I can’t bear to speak of it.
Only to say that I’m grateful you-
Made not an example of me.
Which you could have done quite easily.

I feel like that little instance-
Goodness, I feel quite a lot.
Never mind, I continue on-
I find your actions quite admirable.
If asked if I were meek, I’d say just a trifle.

While the world is tainted scarlet-
Pessimist, am I.
Your smile, your good humor-
It makes for days be brighter.
And me, trickling along a two-legged spider.

Keen with senses and sweet tears-
Coaxing a flower from dry dirt.
I say, quite hesitantly, you’re my-
Hero is not a proper word.
Yet it doesn’t seem half so absurd.

You’re a captain, a prince, a man-
How I shall measure up but a girl?
Yet you seem to take me kindly-
With hands so large, mine swallowed up.
But weary hands your worries trump.

I wish I’d be a fair-haired beauty-
Dimples, vain that may be.
It troubles me that the only hurdle-
Well, it’s my own insecurities.
You must see the ugly parts of me!

But you take my hand once again-
Every time, I’m silenced.
You could be overbearing if you tried-
But “ifs”, make not how the story goes.

I really like the style of this poem! You know how to write poetry in so many different styles....I am awed! :)

Homey, is that your cat in your picture user thing? She's really cute! :)

Thank you for your kind comments, Lucy Anne! :) I so appreciate you taking the time to read my poem. :D

Yeah, that's my cat. Thank you so much! He's absolutely nuts, haha! Do you have any pets? :)

Thank you!

-Homey

nope, no pets! I thought it was a she! What is his name? I really like birds. My friend used to have two but one of them died. :( They were really fun to feed. But she just has one now. Just curious, how many pets do you have? :)

LOL! Don't worry--I tell people I think he's a "she" half the time anyways. ;-) He has a high-pitched meow. Haha. But his name is Scotty, and we have a dog named Bindy. :-)

I've actually never really seen a pet bird! I think a parrot would be fun. :D We just can't have birds/guinea pigs/hamsters with my cat...he would go crazy! Hehe!

Thanks!
-Homey :o)

I love this sosososososoooo much! Also, Homey, birds are super-duper fun. I have 6 chickens and I work at the zoo in the birds section, and they are such a blast.

ditto to Erin on birds! Birds are so cute and colorful, but parrots...I don't know about them being fun. They might be FUNNY, but not fun. After reading Little Woman, Louisa makes Aunt March's parrot seem so so so annoying!

My favorite lines.
This is also uncanny because I'm creating a character called Amelia Rose (Beauty in a retelling of Beauty and the Beast). Not all of this fits her, but it's lovely when it does.

I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right. --The Book Thief

Wow, I haven't been reading your stuff lately... seems there's a lot I've missed, both here and elsewhere on the site. I love this though - it's written the way I felt a month ago. Wonderful. :-D
