Shunned

This girl dances upon the-
Sun, Sun
Eyes like violets
She Run, Runs
Not fun
To feel so done

Perhaps if she hadn't-
No, No
Would Not Have Made A Difference
Still Alone, Alone
No Home
She's shown

Winding bike down the-
Path, Path
The Beaten One, Always
Their Wrath, Wrath
Happened so fast
But that was the past

It's like they say-
Forget, Forget
As if it's that easy
As if, As if
Voice thick
So many words to pick

But once again-
Shunned, Shunned
Eyes like violets
She's stunned, stunned
Not fun
To be so done.

I think you do a really great job maintaining immediacy of the moment in this poem, even if it is a little sad. If this particular piece is borne out of personal experience, I would say don't get your head down, the life of a Christian or homeschooled person is sometimes a lonely one, but that is because they are such unique people, as opposed to the cookie-cutter clones pumped out of the government school systems.

Thank you! I agree with you on the fact that homeschoolers are so much more unique. I've found it to be far more lonely in public schools, though. ;) Just the general coldness from people is unwelcoming. Homeschoolers, I've found, are a lot more open and, well, welcoming (for lack of a better word). :D

This poem is actually not written from personal experience...but I'm glad any others who might feel this way and read this poem will also be able to see your great advice! :)

Thank you for your comment!
