Thoughts on a cloudy day
A rain storm. Every one has his or her own opinion on whether or not it is a good thing or bad. To some it may be water that has been prayed for by a desperate farmer, and waters the earth and brings spring one step closer to you back door. To others it may be a frightening thing, the thunder and the lighting that streaks across the sky so fast and bright. It may damage the crops that the same farmer toiled days for. It all depends on the person’s point of view and whether or not they want to look at it in a good way or a bad way.
Ever wonder about how the clouds carry rain? If you think about it, clouds are simply floating in the sky! How, with tons of water, is it able to float so gently over the sky without anything to hold on to? And as my little sister said to me, “The clouds are really crying today aren’t they!” What if they are? What if rain clouds are joy stealers that like to ruin picnics and spoil a person’s plans for the day? What if they take pleasure in blocking the sunshine that warms each and every little face? What if the clouds bump into each other just to create a blot of lighting and a clap of thunder over the earth? Or are they mainly there to water and grow each blade of grass and every green leaf that blooms on a tree?
I like to think of rain clouds in that pleasant way. For me, there is no other season I look forward to more than spring. So maybe the rain clouds are there to remind me that spring is on its way and that they only wish to help. What do you think about rain clouds? What is your opinion on them? Do you harbor anger against them or look forward to them dumping a cool splash of spring? What do you think?
Have you ever thought of how the way rain falls? What if rain fell from the ground and went straight up to the sky! What would our umbrellas look like then! And if you think about it even more, where would the rain go if it went from the ground to the sky? Would it continue to go up until it evaporated or would it leak into space? The next time it rains where you are, think about these things. Just some thoughts on a cloudy day.

God wove a loveliness
Of clouds and stars and birds
But made not anything at all
So beautiful as words

Hey...
"What if the clouds bump into each other just to create a blot of lighting and a clap of thunder over the earth?" You know what this reminded me of? When I was little and scared of thunderstorms, my mom used to say, "Listen! The lightning happens when the clouds bump into each other, and then when they thunder they're saying 'Oh, excuse me!'"
