Hey AP-ers! I am so glad to be on AP again. Probably none of you missed me, but I did!! God bless, and any thoughts would be appreciated. :)

Elise moistened her lips. Nothing happened. She set the glass on the table, and lay back down. Pictures and images began to float around in her memory, making her dizzy.

“Wh—what’s happening to me?” she called out, her hands grasping the thin air.

“The chosen one, the chosen one.” A voice chanted.

Everything in the room turned into a blurry green, until she was surrounded in a whirring tunnel of green and purple lights. The lights got darker and darker, til all was black.
***
Elise shook her head in the semi-darkness. The darkness got paler and paler til she could see her surroundings.

She found herself sitting on a sandy beach dune, with the sun smiling in her face and the sea lapping at her toes. As she looked out over the blue, a head surfaced from beneath the ocean. The red gossamer hair was streaming down a back that definitely belonged to a girl. A mermaid tail playfully flicked sprays of water. She called out.

“What are you waiting for? Join me.” Her melodious voice spread around the cove like icecream.

Elise didn't need any second bidding. Without even questioning, she came out of the shade of a palm tree towards the waves.
As soon as her foot was immersed in the water, Elise felt a bubbly tingle all up her body. It got stronger and stronger as she went, further and further into the current.
One more step.

She plummeted under.

***
It took Elise a moment to realise she was underwater. She was staring into a pair of bright turquoise eyes. It was the mermaid. Elise started up.

“Where am I? Who are you?”

The mermaid didn't speak for a moment. Elise wondered irritably at her silence. Then she looked down.

And gasped.

All she could see was a tail. A long, shiny aqua-green tail that matched the mermaid’s. Elise gasped again. She looked at the mermaid.

“I’m a—a mermaid?” she asked.

The mermaid payed no heed to her question. “I’m Rilla, daughter of King Poseidon.”

She said, flicking the auburn hair over the creamy shoulder. “And you have to follow me.”

Elise hesitated. “Why must I?”

Rilla turned around to face her and stared silently. She spoke slowly, emphasising on every word.

“It’s. Your. Destiny.”

I know, sorry! A short chapter again...my only worry with this is it might be to flowery, and I'm sure I must be telling more than showing. :)

Mermaids! I should've guessed. o.O Nah it's all good. :) I like mermaids.
Yes, it is short. But I'm still hooked. Destiny. Nicely structured chapter too...
